Overview

Alarm.com is seeking an experienced and strategic Director, Finance IT to oversee the full lifecycle of all 3rd party enterprise financial technologies and applications across the organization. This leader will be responsible for the architecture, implementation, integration, and governance of systems that support Accounting, FP&A, Procurement, Supply Chain, Tax, and related operational functions.

The role serves as the primary bridge between IT and Finance, ensuring that technology solutions are scalable, secure, compliant, and aligned with our finance transformation strategy. With a dual reporting line to the CIO and CFO, this individual must possess deep technical and functional expertise, executive presence, and strong program-management discipline. Strong partnership with the CFO and newly formed Finance Transformation team cannot be understated. Finance Transformation will define what will change and how finance will evolve, while Finance IT will define how we build, implement, and run the systems that support that change.  This is an opportunity to build a Finance IT function from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Systems Execution & Leadership

  • Own the technology execution of the Finance Transformation technology roadmap, inclusive of accounting, FP&A, Supply Chain, and Procurement Systems.
  • Serve as the primary execution partner to the CFO and Finance Transformation team to align systems with business objectives and audit/compliance requirements.
  • Hire, lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of business systems analysts and technical specialists, as necessary.
  • Drive an organizational shift toward AI-enabled automation, improving efficiency and user experience across IT service delivery.

Systems Ownership & Lifecycle Management

  • Own the full lifecycle of 3rd party financial systems, including technical solutioning requirements and vendor feasibility, implementation, configuration, integrations, support, upgrades, and decommissioning.
  • Oversee governance, data quality, security, change control, and user access across all relevant systems.
  • Establish best practices for system configuration, systematic workflow design, and user provisioning.

ERP & Financial Applications (Including ERP Migration)

  • Lead ERP implementation from an architectural, configuration, integrations, and security perspective.
  • Architect scalable, supportable financial system environments that meet GAAP, SOX, and audit requirements.
  • Manage modules and integrations supporting GL, AP/AR, revenue recognition, financial consolidation, procurement, reporting, and inventory.

Procure-to-Pay & Supplier Management

  • Own all Procurement and P2P platforms (e.g., Coupa), including workflows, approvals, vendor management, contracts, purchasing, invoicing, and payments.
  • Partner with Procurement team on best practices and system enhancements and establishing expectations for ongoing licensing costs.
  • Ensure seamless integration of procurement, inventory, and ERP data flows.

Expense Management Systems

  • Oversee enterprise expense management systems (Expensify, Concur, or similar), ensuring policy alignment, automated workflows, and auditability.
  • Drive user adoption, mobile capabilities, systematic enforcement of travel/expense policies, and advanced reporting.

Tax, Supply Chain, and Supporting Finance Systems

  • Manage integrations and data flows for tax engines (e.g., Avalara, Vertex), supply-chain planning tools, and other financial sub-systems.
  • Ensure accurate, automated calculation of sales tax, VAT, and global tax requirements.

Data, Integrations & API Architecture

  • Help architect and manage robust integrations and data pipelines between all Finance systems using APIs, middleware, and ETL tools.
  • Ensure high data integrity across platforms, consistent master data management, and timely data synchronization by functioning as the data custodian within the finance systems
  • Work cross-functionally with Finance Transformation team to support reporting, dashboards, and planning processes.

Program & Project Management

  • Lead complex, cross-functional implementations and upgrades utilizing strong project/program management frameworks.
  • Drive stakeholder alignment, budget management, requirements gathering, testing, deployment, and post-go-live stabilization.
  • Maintain an effective intake, prioritization, and governance model for all Finance/IT system initiatives

System Support, Documentation & Administration

  • In partnership with the Finance Transformation team, create robust documentation to support user on-boarding, training, and ongoing audit of systems and processes
  • Implement the design and testing of disaster recovery protocols to ensure financial operations can continue during a major outage
  • Ensure users leverage system training, using both internally developed materials and external resource libraries
  • Create the team and processes intended to serve as primary support for internal user issues (business users and technical personnel), debugging systems, & implementing tactical fixes in coordination with relevant parties
  • Champion and accelerate the adoption of AI-driven automation across all Finance IT platforms, serving as a catalyst for transformational change.

Qualifications

Required

  • 15+ years of experience in IT, Business Systems, Financial Systems, or Enterprise Applications.
  • Deep expertise implementing, managing, and optimizing ERP systems, preferably cloud-based platforms, and demonstrated success migrating from legacy platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with Finance, Accounting, and FP&A processes, including GL, AP/AR, close, budgeting, forecasting, procurement, revenue management, and audit.
  • Strong experience with P2P systems (Coupa preferred) and expense management systems (Expensify or Concur).
  • Demonstrated understanding of supply chain workflows, vendor management, inventory, and tax systems.
  • Advanced understanding of API integrations, middleware, ETL, and data architecture.
  • Proven track record delivering complex, multi-stakeholder programs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial controls, compliance, and data governance.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with executives, Finance leaders, and technical teams.
  • Experience managing and developing technical teams and system administrators.
  • Experience with AI/ML adoption in IT operations (e.g., AI-driven service management, automation, copilots).

Preferred

  • Experience in SaaS, consumer electronics, IoT, or global, multi-entity environments.
  • Knowledge of SOX compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with BI/reporting tools and financial planning platforms (Adaptive Insights, Anaplan, etc.).
  • PMP, ITIL, or similar certifications.
