Job Description

Your Opportunity

Working alongside the President, the Director of Finance- Housing will be responsible for managing all aspects of day to day financial responsibility of the Colorado housing group.  The Director of Finance will perform a wide range of budgeting, forecasting, investment, market and other operational analysis, which will support corporate and divisional housing  business operations, growth and performance improvement initiatives.

Key Deliverables

  • Utilize VENA as a management and reporting platform

  • Assist and develop reporting tool in sales, and operations

  • Review, create, and improve budget model architecture

  • Define, develop, and communicate budgeting and forecasting schedule to ensure coordination and cooperation across the company

  • Prepare, compile, analyze and communicate information for financial reporting and analysis

  • Improve performance across the housing business by identifying and assessing areas where the company can drive productivity and efficiency

  • Create templates, as necessary, to facilitate gathering budget inputs from divisions. Gather inputs and develop appropriate revenue, cost and investment assumptions, along with key operating metrics that can be tracked and measured

  • Ensure linkage between budget and strategic plan

  • Develop and lead long term forecast with appropriate high level inputs

  • Perform transaction and other investment profitability and return analysis

  • Create robust pricing model and other proprietary models for valuation

  • Perform market and historical operating analysis

  • Provide operational analysis to enhance revenue management, improve sales effectiveness, and manage risks

  • Provide analysis to Business Development

  • Execute ad-hoc analytic requests

The Director of Finance - Housing  is also responsible for managing, training and developing the Division's housing Finance team members. Currently there are no direct reports to this position, but should this change in the future, this responsibility includes :

  • Provides strong leadership, mentoring and guidance to team members

  • Provides regular feedback to all staff on expectations and performance.

  • Provides coaching to help team members excel and grow in the company

  • Communicates to team members relevant information that pertains to their assigned duties/deliverables

  • Builds a team culture within the group that helps the department liaise and work effectively and professionally with other departments in the Division and throughout the organization 

  • Participate in ERP implementation, with special emphasis on budgeting and reporting capabilities

  • Provide preliminary budget, review with Sr. Management and finalize annual budgets and business plan.

  • Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic, operational, and growth initiatives and influence business decisions made by senior leadership via in-depth analysis

What You Bring

  • Public or private homebuilding financial experience

  • The Financial Planning Director must possess a university degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management/Administration.

  • Must have a minimum of 7 years progressive experience in finance or a lead budget analyst role, with at least 3 years of experience in a leadership position in a medium to large sized company

  • Experience in operational finance, including financial analysis, cost accounting, forecasting, and planning

  • Knowledge of and experience with general accounting principles and income tax regulations

  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated experience serving on an executive management team as a strategic business partner

  • Expert in planning, analysis, budgeting, forecasting and building, and managing complex financial models
