Director, Facilities Management

This role leads the Facilities Management Equipment Program and serves as the primary point of contact for all related initiatives. The position requires a self-motivated leader who drives results with a high degree of autonomy, overseeing a team of Facilities Asset Management professionals committed to delivering best-in-class support to Operations. This individual sets the vision and strategy for the program, develops and implements processes to ensure optimal asset performance, and fosters strong partnerships with Operations, internal teams, and service providers. Key responsibilities include providing input into budget development and management, executing R&M value optimization strategies, and influencing capital investment decisions that align with organizational goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Provide strategic leadership to a high-performing Facilities team, driving operational excellence and cost efficiency through proactive vendor performance management, rigorous KPI adherence, and cross-functional collaboration. Champion continuous improvement initiatives and empower the team to deliver measurable results that align with organizational goals. 
  • Foster team member growth through coaching, mentoring, and training initiatives; identify development opportunities, set clear performance goals, and support career progression within the organization. 
  • Analyze programs, processes, vendor performance, and equipment reliability to identify gaps and inefficiencies. Partner with stakeholders to develop and implement practical, comprehensive solutions that improve efficiency, strengthen reliability, and support business objectives 
  • Manage repair and maintenance and capital budgets for company owned restaurants, ensuring adherence to financial targets. Monitor and analyze spending, identify variances and cost drivers, and provide clear, data-driven explanations to leadership while supporting strategic decision-making 
  • Collaborate with Operations and Finance leadership to ensure repair and maintenance budgets, capital investment plans, and related strategies align with company objectives, financial policies, and long-term business goals 
  • Engage with key internal partners (Operations Services, Development, Accounting, Fixed Assets, Procurement, Risk, etc.) to ensure business needs are met and provide support where Facilities is a dependency. Examples include partnering with the Enterprise Equipment team and Procurement to manage equipment inventories and drive operational efficiency.  
  • Own the development and execution of a comprehensive vendor performance management program that drives accountability and results. Establish and enforce clear SLAs and KPIs, monitor compliance, and implement corrective actions to optimize vendor performance and deliver measurable operational improvements.  
  • Develop and integrate industry-leading asset warranty programs into the CMMS platform, establish partnerships with equipment manufacturers, and expand the ASA network within CMMS to optimize coverage and efficiency. 
  • Oversee national preventative maintenance programs to extend asset life, minimize downtime, and ensure compliance. Define scopes of work, negotiate pricing, award contracts, and manage vendor performance 
  • Consult and train Operations teams on facilities topics, engage leadership to address opportunities, and regularly share program updates and actionable insights on repair and maintenance and capital spend 
  • Stay current on industry, market trends and competitive activities to drive continuous improvement in our business model. 
  • Play a key role in optimizing facilities systems (CMMS and EMS) and inform future strategies by leveraging reporting and analytics. 

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred 

    EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

    • At least 10 years of prior experience in related multi-unit facility environment; with emphasis on management in a restaurant environment 
    • 3-5 years of executive leadership experience

    • Strong technical knowledge of all aspects of restaurant facilities maintenance, including HVAC, refrigeration, food prep and production equipment, electrical, plumbing and building systems and finishes. 
    • Comprehensive knowledge in all MS Office programs. 
    • Knowledgeable in governing codes, safety (OSHA) rules, sanitation (NSF), and building codes (BOCA). 
    • Experience with a facilities management work order/asset management system to run the business and design strategy. 
    • Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency in addressing issues, prioritizing tasks effectively, and driving timely resolutions to support operational continuity and business objectives. 
    • Willingness to work outside standard business hours as needed to support operational priorities and respond to urgent issues.
