What you'll be doing

As the Director, Exposure Platforms, you will lead the operations of CIBC’s exposure management ecosystem, ensuring its integrity, reliability, and operational readiness. Your mandate is to deliver trusted, decision-grade exposure management tools, data flows, and integrations at the application layer that support and enable the Cyber Threat Exposure Management (CTEM) program. You will drive the completeness, accuracy, and actionability of exposure signals, resolve systemic technical issues, and shape the future of exposure management platforms at CIBC.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role.  You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Platform Integrity & Operational Readiness: Ensure continuous scanning coverage, reliable authentication, stable integrations, and dependable data ingestion across all environments with a focus on application-level controls and optimization. Proactively identify and remediate application-level failures, coverage gaps, and platform connectivity weaknesses that undermine exposure visibility. Support the end-to-end technical health, configuration, and resilience of exposure management applications and integrations.
  • Scanning Coverage: Lead the development and sustainment of authoritative integrations (asset, identity, cloud, and network sources). Establish scalable discovery and coverage models, including agent strategies, zone-based scanning, and hybrid approaches, with a focus on application effectiveness and completeness. Increase the scope of services and scanning coverage across networks, ensuring continual improvement and alignment with security objectives.
  • Data Integrity & Trust: Serve as the accountable owner for the quality, consistency, and reliability of exposure data used across risk, remediation, and governance functions. Identify and correct data drift, duplication, blind spots, and systemic inaccuracies. Define and enforce standards for exposure data trustworthiness that downstream reporting, prioritization, and executive decision-making depend on. Act as the escalation point when exposure data cannot be relied upon for risk decisions.
  • Strategic Technical Leadership: Collaborate with technical partners to set technical direction and prioritization aligned to CTEM outcomes. Advise senior leadership on platform evolution and shape multi-year technical roadmaps.
  • People Leadership: Manage and grow a specialized technical team. Provide coaching, performance management, training, and oversee department budget. Lead vendor and service provider relationships as needed.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive ongoing improvement in platform engineering, operational resilience, and data reliability. Contribute to strategy and roadmap development for exposure management platforms and supporting technologies.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate 8-10 years of experience in platform operations, security operations, or related technical domains, with a record of delivering operationally resilient systems. You possess deep understanding of exposure management platforms, scanning technologies, authentication, integration patterns, and data ingestion.  You have experience establishing governance routines, running enterprise technical initiatives, and managing platform and data reliability at scale. You build strong internal and external relationships, working effectively across technology, cloud, data, and risk domains to ensure platform alignment and reliability.

  • Your influence makes a difference. You know that relationships and networks are essential to success. You inspire outcomes by sharing your expertise. You excel at investigating complex technical issues, synthesizing multi-source data, and communicating actionable insights to both technical and executive audiences.
