Director, Events and Promotions (Temporary)

Home Office - Georgia Full time

The E.W. Scripps Company is hiring a temporary Director Events and Promotions. This role will develop, produce, and execute all events, sponsorships, and industry conferences for Scripps Networks. (approximately 20-25 annually). Collaborates across the organization with Sales, Distribution, Original Programming, Community Relations and Communications to produce client events, trips, press screenings, red carpets, award shows and all trade and consumer events and promotions that drive revenue, increase distribution, generate press or engage viewers. 
 

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Develop, produce and execute all events, sponsorships and industry conferences for the Scripps Networks – for example, the Trumpet Awards,
  • Produces quantitative analysis of event effectiveness, creates event reports and oversees event budgets staying within strict parameters. 
  • Oversees the divisions “Premiums” process – budgets, research, sourcing, inventory and tracking. 
  • Lead and manage event team staff.
  • Develops appropriate documentation of processes and policies to ensure business continuity.
  • Manage relationships with third party vendors and communicating with clients.
  • Follow event marketing best practice initiatives and maintain external benchmarking and industry profile.
  • Comply with Legal and Compliance guidelines as they relate to event matters. 
     

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in the industry, specifically marketing and event planning.
     

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Must think strategically, execute quality output under tight deadlines.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to effectively multitask.
  • Ability/flexibility to manage an event confidently, ranging in size from 100 to 1,000+ attendees.
  • Broad knowledge base of suppliers/venues.
  • High level of creativity, ability to think "outside the box".
  • Strong Brand management focus.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to lead meetings.
  • Proven contract negotiating and supplier management skills.
  • Superior oral and written communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work well independently and on a team.
