Job Summary

The Director, Event Marketing leads Merkle’s enterprise event strategy in partnership with marketing leadership. This role oversees the full events portfolio and calendar, manages the events team, and serves as the primary point of contact for executive and senior‑level stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a strategic, experienced events leader who can balance long‑term planning with hands‑on execution.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and execute Merkle’s event strategy aligned with marketing priorities, brand positioning, and revenue goals
  • Lead the events team and drive cross-functional alignment across marketing, sales, and client teams
  • Maintain ownership of the enterprise event calendar, ensuring prioritization and resource alignment
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, and emerging technologies to evolve event strategy

Budget & Vendor Management

  • Own the events budget, including forecasting, vendor negotiations, and cost optimization
  • Manage partner and vendor relationships, including contracts, performance, and delivery expectations
  • Ensure all programs are executed on time, within scope, and within budget

Event Execution & Collaboration

  • Partner with marketing leads, demand generation, and content to deliver integrated, end‑to‑end event experiences
  • Collaborate with sales and client leadership to drive engagement and pipeline generation through event programming
  • Oversee the development of pre-, during-, and post-event communication plans across channels

Performance & Reporting

  • Establish event KPIs and performance measurement frameworks
  • Report results, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Ensure events consistently support lead generation, pipeline goals, and ROI targets

Technology & Operations

  • Utilize event platforms such as Cvent, Splash, and ON24 to manage in‑person, virtual, and hybrid events
  • Champion process improvements and operational best practices

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of event marketing experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role
  • Experience managing event programs across in‑person, virtual, hybrid, and internal formats
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams
  • Executive-level communication skills with the ability to influence and align senior stakeholders
  • Proficiency with event technology platforms (Cvent, Splash, ON24)

The annual salary range for this position is $114,425 - $135,000 annually. Placement within the salary range is based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, and other factors permitted by law.
