The Director of Environmental Remediation is a senior leadership position responsible for providing strategic, operational, and business development support across environmental remediation programs. This role serves as a key member of the leadership team, driving operational excellence, supporting program execution, and advancing growth initiatives within federal and commercial markets. The Director will work cross-functionally with program management, capture, contracts, and technical teams to ensure successful delivery of remediation projects while identifying and positioning the organization for future opportunities. This role is critical to bridging current operations and future growth, ensuring that environmental remediation programs are executed successfully while positioning the organization to expand its footprint in the federal market.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Operations Support
Provide strategic oversight and support to environmental remediation programs, ensuring alignment with contract requirements, regulatory standards, and company objectives
Partner with Program Managers to enhance execution, mitigate risk, and drive schedule, cost, and performance outcomes
Support mobilization, transition, and sustainment of remediation projects, including staffing, subcontractor integration, and logistics planning
Monitor program performance metrics and implement corrective actions as needed
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations (e.g., CERCLA, RCRA)
Assist in the development and enforcement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices
Business Development & Capture
Support capture efforts for environmental remediation opportunities across federal agencies (e.g., DoD, USACE, EPA, DOE)
Contribute to pipeline development, opportunity qualification, and bid/no-bid decisions
Lead or support proposal development, including technical approaches, staffing plans, and cost inputs
Participate in client engagement activities, industry days, and relationship management
Identify strategic partners and subcontractors to strengthen competitive positioning
Strategic & Organizational Leadership
Provide subject matter expertise in environmental remediation to inform corporate strategy and growth initiatives
Support development of long-term business plans within the environmental services portfolio
Mentor program and project managers, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
Coordinate across internal stakeholders including finance, contracts, HR, and compliance
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent, relevant work experience
Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental remediation, with a focus on federal contracts
Demonstrated experience supporting both program execution and business development/capture
Strong understanding of federal environmental programs and regulations
Experience working with agencies such as U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Department of Defense (DoD), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and/or Department of Energy (DOE)
Proven ability to manage complex projects and support proposal development
Active or ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance
Experience leading cross-functional, geographically dispersed teams without direct authority
Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, cost analysis, and profit-and-loss considerations
Highly organized, analytical, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
Proficiency with MS Office suite, SharePoint, and Adobe
Ability to travel up to 50% to events and/or customer locations with a varying amount of notice
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree (M.S. or MBA)
Professional certifications (e.g., PE, PMP, CHMM)

Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment
Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time
