We’re hiring a Director, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) in Calgary, Alberta! You’ll be responsible for owning and governing the company’s ERM framework and executing the enterprise level risk process end to end. You’ll make an impact supporting decision making by senior leadership and the Board by providing clear, forward looking risk insights. The role integrates operational risk inputs but does not own Operational Risk Management.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 15 years of experience in ERM, strategy, finance, internal audit, or similar enterprise‑level roles with prior leadership experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Engineering, or related discipline; master’s degree or relevant professional certification (CRM, CPA or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of risk frameworks (COSO, ISO 31000) and their practical application
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization
  • Exceptional synthesis, communication, and presentation skills

Responsibilities:

  • Own and continuously enhance the company’s ERM framework, governance processes, and standards; ensure consistent application across the enterprise and provide effective oversight and challenge.
  • Execute and lead the ERM process end to end, including enterprise risk identification, assessment, prioritization, monitoring, and regular updates to maintain an accurate enterprise risk profile.
  • Lead enterprise risk assessments and facilitate risk discussions; stay current on emerging risks and ensure they are rigorously assessed and appropriately reflected within the enterprise risk profile.
  • Deliver clear, concise risk reporting for the Executive Leadership Team, CFO and Board to support informed decision-making.
  • Provide training, coaching, and facilitation to build risk capability and strengthen the organization’s risk culture.
  • Lead, develop, and coach a small, high performing ERM team; manage workload and priorities to meet expectations.

Location and other Key Details:

  • This position is office-based, with a location at Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Avenue S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
