PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $199,300.00-$243,800.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $155,200.00 - $288,000.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:

In this role, you’ll shape the architectural direction behind some of BECU’s most critical modernization and resiliency initiatives, ensuring members experience reliable, high‑performing, always‑on digital services. You’ll lead a team of architects responsible for designing resilient cloud, infrastructure, and network architecture patterns that strengthen the stability of BECU’s core systems. Your work will directly influence data center modernization, disaster recovery enhancement, cybersecurity architecture advancement, and improvements in application and configuration portfolio health. By offering clarity, innovation, and strong technical leadership, you’ll help move BECU toward a more resilient, secure, and future‑ready technology ecosystem.

To join our dynamic team, we require candidates to be residents of WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, GA, SC, NC, CA or VA. If you’re located in Washington state and within a reasonable driving distance from Tukwila, we are requesting that you come into our HQ on Tuesdays & Wednesdays.  For those candidates that live outside the commute distance of TFC and in any of our approved remote work locations, this role will be remote. Remote or onsite, we are committed to ensuring you are fully engaged and included in our collaborative environment. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Lead Enterprise Infrastructure & Resiliency Architecture: Own the enterprise architecture vision and design patterns for multi‑region resiliency, disaster recovery modernization, cloud infrastructure, and automated recovery across major initiatives.
  • Advance Test Environment & Data Center Modernization: Define long‑term architecture strategies for environment uplift, infrastructure redesign, and platform evolution aligned with business and technology roadmaps.
  • Strengthen APM & CMDB Governance: Oversee the maturity roadmap for application portfolio management and configuration data, improving risk visibility, dependency mapping, and modernization prioritization.
  • Provide Architecture Leadership & Governance: Maintain and evolve architecture standards, governance processes, and reusable patterns that enable secure, resilient, and scalable solution delivery.
  • Guide & Develop a High‑Performing Architecture Team: Manage six direct reports, providing coaching, technical direction, and performance support to improve architectural decision‑making and execution consistency.
  • Partner Across Technology & Business Teams: Collaborate closely with Infrastructure Engineering, Cybersecurity, Risk, and Technology Domain leaders to align strategy and ensure architectural continuity.
  • Evaluate New & Emerging Technologies: Assess platforms and solution options, partner with leaders on strategic evaluations, and recommend technologies aligned with resiliency, risk, and modernization goals.
  • Represent Architecture in Major Delivery Efforts: Provide architectural oversight for large initiatives, ensuring designs align with enterprise standards, long‑term strategy, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Maintain Long‑Range Architecture Roadmaps: Ensure architecture roadmaps reflect business needs, operational goals, and opportunities to adopt innovations that improve member experience and technology resilience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in systems architecture, solution design, and solution implementation
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a leadership role managing people and/or advising medium to large project teams
  • Direct people‑management experience required
  • Ability to work full‑time hours, with additional hours as business needs require
Desired Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree
  • Experience designing multi‑region, highly available cloud architectures (preferably Azure), including automated failover, infrastructure‑as‑code, and resiliency patterns
  • Experience implementing zero‑trust security controls, identity‑centric security (IAM/CIAM), and cloud security architectures aligned with frameworks such as NIST CSF or CIS
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability in both tactical execution and strategic planning
  • Experience in process improvement and facilitation
  • Experience with LEAN principles and/or PMP certification
