Title and Summary

Director, EMV 3DS Product Management, Europe

The Director of EMV 3DS Authentication Europe will own the regional strategy, product roadmap and performance/revenue KPIs of Mastercard’s EMV 3DS authentication product (Identity Check). This Director will be accountable for driving product innovation across strong customer authentication (including new authentications such as passkeys or EUDI wallet based authentication methods through 3DS) and risk-based authentication, ensuring Mastercard remains the trusted leader in seamless and secure digital transaction experiences.

This Director is responsible for aligning global authentication product capabilities with European digital payments strategy (including Mastercard Checkout Services such as merchant tokenization and Click to Pay, …), regulatory requirements (PSD3/PSR, EUDI), local customer needs (issuer/acquirer/merchant/3DS/ACS), and market-specific dynamics to enable authentication experiences that have low friction, high security and are compliant with regulations.

The Director will partner deeply with global product/engineering, authentication market product management, regulatory affairs, analytics, optimization, commercialization and customer technical delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. EMV 3DS Product Strategy & Operations

Define and lead the European regional product strategy for ID Check, aligned to broader digital payment strategy and solutions, revenue targets and evolving technologies and regulations (mainly PSD3/PSR, eiDAS)

Own multi-year product roadmaps focused on product optimization and growth, set network standards/mandates

Own KPIs including revenue growth, authentication & fraud performance, authorization approval rate and create visibility through executive-level dashboards and reporting.

Drive go-to-market strategy for new products/features in collaboration with Global Product and regional market teams.

Develop authentication pricing strategy to support growth and performance

2. Regulatory & Authentication Standards Leadership

Serve as the European subject-matter expert on Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) / Transaction Risk Analysis (TRA) as defined under PSD/PSR. Awareness of eiDAS 2.0/EUDI and relevance to EMV 3DS authentication solutions.

Develop and execute a roadmap aligned to European regulatory evolution (PSD3/PSR, eiDAS2.0/EUDI)

Act as a strategic partner to regulatory affairs and public policy teams, regulators, industry bodies, and working groups

Set authentication/network standards in response to regulatory and product changes

3. Customer & Stakeholder Relations

Build relationships with specific market stakeholders such as top 3DS/ACS servers and related issuer/acquirer/merchants

Partner with authentication market & optimization teams to achieve targets, supporting the teams with product training, storytelling and product value propositions

Partner with Global product/engineering teams to ensure products meet European requirements

Act as a regional spokesperson at conferences, Academy on the Web, trainings and industry forums

Required Experience & Qualifications

Deep understanding of payment authentication technologies (EMV 3DS/IDC, biometrics, FIDO2 WebAuthn / SPC passkeys, risk based authentication) and familiarity with EMV 3DS Directory Server, Access Control Server (ACS), 3DS Server

Deep knowledge of European payments & identity regulations (mainly PSD2/PSD3,PSR)

Experience working with or within payment networks, issuing banks, Fintechs, 3DS/ACS server, identity providers, or large-scale digital platforms

Demonstrated leadership in complex, multi-country, multi-stakeholder contexts. Strategic thinking and long-term vision in digital payments context

Executive communication and presentation skills
