Analog Devices is currently seeking a highly experienced and strategic EMEA Trade Compliance Director to lead and enhance our regional compliance program across Europe. This role will primarily focus on ensuring compliance with European Union regulations governing military and strategic goods, including oversight of dual-use items, defense-related exports, and strategic trade controls. The successful candidate will serve as a key advisor to senior leadership and will collaborate cross-functionally to effectively integrate compliance into business operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of a robust European trade compliance strategy aligned with ADI’s global policies and regional regulatory frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with the EU Regulation 2021/821 and national military export control laws (e.g., BAFA in Germany, SPIRE in the UK), and U.S. re-export controls (ITAR, EAR).
  • Oversee licensing processes for military and strategic goods, including EU classification, jurisdiction determination, and export permit applications.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with European regulatory bodies, including national export control authorities and customs agencies.
  • Develop and maintain Internal Compliance Programs (ICP) for high-risk product categories, along with other internal policies, SOPs, and automated tools to facilitate trade compliance implementation.
  • Conduct internal audits and risk assessments; implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide strategic guidance on compliance risks related to military technology transfers, deemed exports, and controlled goods programs.
  • Collaborate with security and IT teams to enforce technology access controls and data protection aligned with military export restrictions.
  • Lead training programs for employees and stakeholders on European military and strategic goods regulations.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel on voluntary disclosures, government inquiries, or enforcement actions as needed, and support M&A due diligence and integration.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience in trade compliance, with at least 5 years focused on European military and strategic goods regulations.
  • Extensive knowledge of EU export control frameworks, including dual-use and military goods regulations.
  • Experience managing compliance programs across multiple European jurisdictions.
  • Proven ability to interact with government agencies and regulatory bodies.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in law, International Trade, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Fluency in English; additional European languages (e.g., German, French, Dutch) a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the semiconductor, aerospace, or defense sectors.
  • Familiarity with U.S. re-export controls (ITAR, EAR) and their application within Europe.
  • Prior engagement with AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) and Known Consignor programs.
  • Experience with compliance automation tools and ERP integration.
