Position Overview
The Director of Technical Sales for EMEA Enterprise Business is responsible for defining and executing the regional technical sales strategy, owning business performance, and leading a multi-layered organisation across 10 countries to drive growth across Autodesk’s largest enterprise customers.
This role leads a team of 60 people comprising Technical Sales Managers, Account Technical Leads, and Technical Sales Specialists, enabling them to deliver strategic customer outcomes, accelerate expansion, and position Autodesk as a trusted technology partner.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Global Enterprise Technical Sales, this leader will operate as a key member of the EMEA leadership team, partnering across Sales, Customer Success, and Product organisations to shape strategy and deliver results.
Responsibilities
Business & Strategy Leadership
- Define and execute the EMEA Enterprise Technical Sales strategy aligned to Autodesk’s global priorities
- Own the regional technical sales business plan, including contribution to expansion growth, pipeline development, and customer outcomes
- Drive consistent execution of technical sales methodologies, tools, and processes across EMEA
- Partner in forecasting, pipeline inspection, and account planning to ensure strong technical sales impact on deal progression and conversion
Organisation & Performance
- Lead and develop a high-performing organisation of Technical Sales Managers and teams across EMEA
- Establish clear performance expectations, accountability, and a culture of continuous learning and improvement
- Design and evolve the organisational structure to align with market priorities and growth opportunities
- Allocate resources effectively across industries, accounts, and strategic initiatives
- Own and manage the EMEA Enterprise Technical Sales operating budget
Customer & Sales Leadership
- Support strategic customer engagements, including C-level interactions, to influence technical decision-making and long-term partnerships
- Provide executive-level technical guidance on solution positioning aligned to customer business and technology strategies
- Ensure effective use of Customer Technical Visions (CTV) and Customer Outcome Proposals to drive impactful Customer Success Plans and expansion outcomes
- Partner closely with Sales and Customer Success leadership to convert opportunities into measurable adoption and revenue growth
Capability & Enablement
- Build world-class technical sales capability across EMEA, including industry expertise, solution positioning, and executive engagement skills
- Drive adoption of scalable best practices, playbooks, and AI-enabled workflows (e.g., EDGE) to improve productivity and consistency
- Support ongoing development of teams aligned to Autodesk technology, industry trends, and evolving customer needs
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Act as the voice of the EMEA Enterprise team and customers, providing structured feedback to Product, Platform, and Industry Strategy teams
- Collaborate with Customer Success, Marketing, Revenue Operations, and Product Development to align priorities and accelerate growth
- Strengthen alignment between Sales and Technical Sales strategies across the Autodesk ecosystem
Leadership & Representation
- Serve as an active member of the EMEA Enterprise Sales and Customer Success leadership teams
- Lead change initiatives that enhance how Technical Sales operates, including adoption of new tools, processes, and business models
- Represent Autodesk at industry events and with key customers as a senior technical leader
Success Measures
- Expansion growth and contribution to revenue across EMEA Enterprise accounts
- Pipeline creation and technical win-rate influence
- Adoption and quality of Customer Technical Visions and Technical Proposals
- Productivity and scale of the Technical Sales organisation
- Employee engagement, retention, and leadership effectiveness
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of technical sales with 4+ years of leadership experience, including regional or global responsibility
- Proven experience leading managers and developing high-performing teams in enterprise software/SaaS environments
- Strong commercial acumen with experience influencing revenue growth and customer outcomes
- Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, including executive and C-suite
- Experience operating in complex, matrixed organisations
- Strong understanding of industry trends and enterprise customer needs
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
- Ability to travel internationally (up to 40%)
