Job Summary
Manages the leadership and staff of engineering and other professional technical personnel in the performance of various system planning, policy, and regulatory activities associated with NIPSCO's electric distribution and transmission systems. These functional areas of responsibility include transmission and distribution planning, operations planning, independent system operator interface, relay protection, support for operating NIPSCO's electric systems, wholesale transmission contracts, NERC compliance and overall transmission system engineering and technical support. Ensure safe and reliable operation of NIPSCO's electric systems while also focusing on overall economic efficiency at fair rates for NIPSCO's customers. Lead a diverse group that performs system modeling and analyses, technical and financial calculations, produces design and policy documents, manages relationships with other transmission entities (Regional Transmission Operators, other utilities, regulators, etc.), and manages wholesale transmission contracts
Essential Functions
Directs teams to ensure the provision of safe, reliable, economically efficient, and cost-effective transmission and distribution facilities. Provide guiding leadership to the organizations responsible for:
Electric Transmission, Distribution, System Protection, NERC Compliance and Operations Planning Managing external interface of electric transmission issues with Regional Transmission Organizations and state and federal government regulatory agencies
Provides guidance in the identification and resolution of engineering and technical problems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.
Establishes and communicates expectations to team and encouraging employee feedback,
Appropriately manages financials associated with large operating and capital project budgets.
Support storm restoration or other major disturbance events as needed
Develop a culture which supports continuous employee development (training, career development, technical).
Required Qualifications for Position
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other engineering technology related areas from an ABET accredited program.
Experience as a collaborative leader that effectively builds teams
Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience in electric utility related functional responsibilities over engineering departments.
Detailed knowledge of utility electrical systems, electrical transmission facilities, and the way the transmission and distribution delivery systems are operated.
Knowledge of general utility practice and codes/regulations pertinent to electrical transmission facilities.
Electric utility team leadership skills
Ability to implement and lead others through changes
Ability to monitor and achieve financial and operational objectives
Valid driver’s license
Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
Advanced degree in engineering or business
Experience with MISO policies, FERC and NERC compliance, System planning

Salary Range*:
$160,100.00 - $240,100.00*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate’s skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity.
