Summary:
The Director of JDCH Center for Nursing Excellence, under the guidance of Chief Nurse Officer plans, designs, implements and maintains programs, standards and management systems in all facets of nursing/patient care administration. Serves as a role model/ mentor/ coach for leadership in the professional practice of nursing and clinical programs. Promotes an awareness and understanding of positive professional practice principles, cultivates and inspires transformational leadership principles and ensures quality staff and patient outcomes through the development of programs. Ensures that the Magnet principles are embedded in all professional nursing practice and initiatives.Responsibilities:
Collaborates with departments to assess learning needs and competency requirements.Responsible for leading and enhancing the Center for Nursing Excellence and Innovation. Coordinates and manages innovation in clinical nursing practice and role: Magnet-program initiatives, Professional Development, Nursing Outcomes, Evidence Based Practice/Research.Facilitates the growth and development of the capabilities of the professional nursing staff and nursing leaders.Oversees and coordinates onboarding/orientation/transition to practice for new and experienced nurses, and mandatory educational offerings.Maintains collegial and cooperative relationships with all other Clinical Directors, working as a team to search out and implement efficiencies, best practices, and evidence based practices leading to innovation.Provides coordination for the Children’s Hospital shared decision making council (SMD) structures and participates directly as appropriate to insure the viability and efficacy of the program. Serves as a coach for the chairs of the SDM councils and assists the chairs in successful council follow-up and follow-through.Plans and implements programs in order to enhance patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, complaint management, performance improvement or other educational needs of the organization.Participates in achieving hospital nursing goals by participating in the Nursing Strategic Planning process.Facilitates the implementation of evidence based nursing practice.Communicates issues related to all aspects of onboarding/orientation/transition to practice and professional development with key stakeholders.Assesses, plans, develops, implements, sustains and evaluates programs that support Magnet recognition and designation.Works collaboratively with nurse researchers, CNSs and others to contribute to the intellectual discipline of nursing though Evidence Based Practice projects and research.Participates in intra- and inter- disciplinary process and performance quality improvement activities (patient flow, nursing quality improvement initiatives). Effectively utilizes statistical tools and methods to communicate and measure results.Competencies:
