The role will have particular focus on ensuring the deployment of digital solutions at scale in clinical care environments.

The Director, Digital Health Strategy & Operations also owns the performance management and communication spine of Digital Health: defining outcome-based KPIs, tracking portfolio value, and translating complex work into clear, executive-ready narratives that improve visibility, decision-making, and organizational alignment and ensure that strategy, execution, and storytelling are tightly connected and consistently landed across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:

Digital Health Strategy & Portfolio Leadership:

  • Partner with the Digital Health team to shape and execute the enterprise Digital Health strategy and roadmap across R&D, Medical and Commercial.

  • Translate strategic priorities into a focused portfolio of initiatives and lead portfolio governance for Digital Health, including initiative intake, prioritization, investment decisions, and lifecycle management.

  • Drive the deployment and adoption of digital health initiatives, including hospital- and health system–level deployments at scale

  • Establish deployment strategies and playbooks that align with clinical workflows, care pathways, and operational realities in hospital settings, including change management and post-launch optimization

  • Develop business cases, investment theses, and value frameworks that incorporate clinical, operational, and economic outcomes

  • Drive the leadership operating rhythm, including strategic planning, governance forums, portfolio reviews, and team engagements, ensuring clarity on priorities, sequencing, and trade-offs.

  • Act as a force multiplier for the team by ensuring alignment between strategy, portfolio execution, metrics, and communication.

Execution Excellence & Value Realization:

  • Define and own outcome-based KPIs that measure Digital Health impact (e.g., patient outcomes, time to diagnosis, trial efficiency, adoption, scalability, value realization).

  • Drive consistent execution standards across pilots, scale-ups, and enterprise deployments.

  • Proactively identify and resolve execution bottlenecks, interdependencies, and misalignments that slow delivery or dilute impact.

Executive Communication & Enterprise Narrative:

  • Own and elevate the Digital Health communication strategy, ensuring consistent, high-quality, executive-ready messaging.

  • Translate complex portfolios, technologies, and partnerships into clear narratives that articulate progress, impact, risks, and decisions.

  • Develop standardized leadership reporting, and storytelling that improve transparency, alignment, and confidence in Digital Health delivery.

  • Strengthen how Digital Health value is understood across BMS, reinforcing credibility and enterprise trust.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Advanced degree (MD, PhD, MPH, MBA, MS or equivalent) strongly preferred

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience across strategy, operations, digital health, life sciences, clinical operations, or healthcare leadership

  • Proven track record leading complex, cross-functional portfolios in a matrixed, global organization preferred

  • Experience leading or supporting digital initiatives embedded in clinical care delivery (e.g., clinical decision support, workflow tools, patient monitoring, care coordination platforms)

  • Familiarity with regulated digital health solutions (e.g., SaMD, digital therapeutics, real-world data platforms)

  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and drive decisions without direct line authority.

Core Capabilities

  • Strategic thinker with strong execution discipline and bias for outcomes.

  • Deep experience in portfolio governance, KPI definition, and performance management.

  • Strong financial and operational acumen, including prioritization and value realization.

  • Exceptional executive communication skills—able to make complex topics clear, concise, and decision-ready.

  • Comfort navigating ambiguity, innovation, and competing priorities.

  • High credibility with scientific, clinical, technical, and business stakeholders, paired with a high bar for delivery.
