About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Director of Data Analytics & Insights. The Director will be accountable for the strategic and operational ownership of data analytics functions supporting all divisions of the organization. They have primary responsibility of leading the data analytics team, migration of products and services to the data lake, overseeing all activities and ensuring alignment with the business’s vision and objectives. The Director, Data Analytics aligns and directs the management, development, and integration of data analytics and business intelligence necessary for supporting the mission, vision strategies, objectives, and goals of organization, they will use their experience to mine data to draw insights that drive opportunities and value for the businesses.

The Director will be responsible for developing, leading and executing analytics and insights vision and strategy; building a plan to enhance the existing data and insights capabilities of the organization; and championing the use of key insights to drive forward data-based decision-making.

The Director will provide oversight and guidance of data collection and analytics activities, including recommendations and insights to improve the internal and external experience for stakeholders and Teranet partners. They will ensure insights are shared, actioned, and aligned with Teranet Objectives and Key Results.

The Director will act as a strategic thought partner to cross functional partners and senior executive team, helping to prioritize and execute data and analytics efforts and investments. They will manage data science and analyst resources.

What You’ll Be Doing

The incumbent needs to drive, design and implement innovative custom data analytics solutions with customers. To be successful, the incumbent needs to work with external customers on regular basis to understand customer needs and market trends. Effective collaboration with cross-functional internal stakeholders (sales, marketing, finance, legal, HR and IS) is required to ensure proper execution of the initiatives

  • The incumbent is not only answerable to the Sr Director Enterprise Data & Analytics, but to the stakeholders of the business. They are responsible for keeping the stakeholders up to date on product process and progress.

  • Collaborate with the functional partners and stakeholder’s requirements, timelines and risk mitigation strategies. 

  • Manages the resolution of escalated product problems.  Escalates problems and issues to other departments when needed.

  • You will need to work with your key stakeholders to prioritize activities and balance multiple relationships that will have competing interests and priorities.

  • Deadlines - you will need to juggle multiple competing priorities, while maintaining a strict delivery timetable based on prioritization.

  • Oversee team’s individual KPIs, while being responsible for connecting those to the broader success metrics of the business.

What You Bring

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to develop unique solutions to complex and abstract issues and to provide interpretive advice to business and functional leaders

  • Excellent communication, and presentation skills with ability to convey technical information in understandable terms and proven track record in documenting insights and influencing action

  • Solid project management skills and demonstrated ability in the successful delivery of large, high impact and multi-faceted projects within a complex organization.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of land and real estate industries to understand, analyze and interpret complex issues affecting the industry and applying these in innovative solutions.

  • Product or Portfolio Management knowledge and experience

  • Knowledge of decision science, data science, advanced modelling and advanced analytical techniques

  • Experience in working with large datasets including both structured and unstructured data and knowledge of related tools (e.g., SQL, MapReduce, Hive, Tensor Flow, Python)

  • Ability to establish productive relationships between various leaders, departments and partners across the organization and externally.

  • Strong management/leadership skills are essential to lead/motivate a highly professional and diverse workforce

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary to gain commitment and support to desired objectives

  • Well-developed communication skills including precise articulation of ideas and opinions to prepare detailed strategic papers, business cases and proposals

  • Advanced influential/negotiation skills sufficient to recognize and respond to underlying concerns of multiple interests and to lead/shape decision making process in situations that involve complexity and ambiguity.
