The Director, Creative plays an essential role in bringing the PGA brand to life and executing Association goals and objectives while supervising the Brand Creative department and jobs that come in. This position leads the overall design strategy and will assure excellence in the execution of brand and design concepts in print collateral, digital graphics and various other media. This includes understanding and implementing brand initiatives and ensuring all designs meet PGA branding guidelines as well as clients’ specific needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES (Specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):

Provide the Brand Creative team direction and ensure adherence to direction for production of creative deliverables as it relates to the Association, Championships, and various grow the game initiatives.

Supervise the creative process for internal and external customers ensuring timely deliverables, including departmental management of the creative request portal.

Responsible for implementing process improvements and operating efficiencies resulting in cost savings, and enhanced quality. 

Lead the process of identification of freelance and contractor designers and agencies. as needed.

Serve as the primary internal point person for brand guideline questions and approvals as it relates to partners, merchandise, PGA of America Sections and PGA Members.

Responsible for the development, management, and adherence of the annual design budget for the team.

Elevate and evolve the PGA brand aesthetic while supporting the overall brand direction.

Design and direction of creative, out-of-the-box, marketing and advertising solutions which include but are not limited to:  logos, brochures, invitations, magazine ads, signage, digital ads, packaging and storyboards, while ensuring brand consistency across all media.

Review color proofs for quality and accuracy.

Maintain a working knowledge of current design trends, software, and hardware, while providing design solutions that are innovative and meet client’s needs.

Create and maintain strong client and vendor relationships.

SUPERVISION:

This is a supervisory position responsible for the performance management and hiring of employees within the department.  

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:

Collaborative budget responsibility for annual budget for brand creative and monitors results. 

Indirect oversight into production budget for other departments as needed

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or related field preferred.

Seven years related experience in graphic design, communications, art direction, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience within the golf industry is preferred.

Experience in corporate standards and branding implementation.  

Experience in producing high-quality design materials from initial concept through production to delivery of finalized materials.

Five years Team Management Experience.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Must have strong graphic and verbal skills with the ability to communicate design solutions both internally and with clients. A proven ability to see projects from initial concept to delivery of final product.  Mastery of layout composition and highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign).  Must have solid skills in PowerPoint, Digital Asset Management Tools and Interactive media.  Knowledge of MS Suite and Google Workspace. Working knowledge of Gmail, Google Drive, Google Sheets, and Google Docs. Basic fluency in artificial intelligence (AI) tools and concepts. This includes using AI to enhance business operations and drive innovation, enabling us to better serve our Members and stakeholders.

Ability to travel up to 10%.
