The Director, Corporate Strategy is responsible for advising senior leadership on the establishment of organization objectives, the development of organization long-range and strategic plans, and the identification of organization strengths and weaknesses. This leader will spearhead the annual strategic planning process. This position will be a companywide asset to assist people across the company in the implementation of strategic projects, and the creation and maintenance of a strategic roadmap.

The successful candidate will know and assess industry competitive trends and forecasts and should be able to relate to the changes taking place in the industry and business in general, especially as they relate to changes in the structural components of the industry and customer behavior. Past successes in helping guide an organization in identifying risk, as well as opportunity, plus a proven track record of business growth as a result of efforts will be key requirements for this position.

This individual will lead interface and manage projects with external consultants and serve as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders in assessing strategic initiatives, at all levels, ensuring they are in line with the company’s standards and objectives. This is a HYBRID role (work on-site 3 days a week at our Reston, VA Amentum office). US Citizenship is required to apply.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Advise senior leadership regarding operational readiness and effectiveness, strategic plan development and analysis, performance, business development strategies, and optimal approaches to accomplish objectives.
  • Direct development of strategic plans, which includes unifying leaders from multiple areas with varying goals, evaluating performance vs. plan, initiating strategies to overcome gaps, and taking action to mitigate discrepancies or risks to the organization.

  • Develop and implement competitive analysis and market analytical strategies, gathering competitive intelligence, performing strategic competitor assessments and crafting the overall strategic design of new business pursuits and business development strategy based on tailored, specific market analysis

  • Assess potential merger and acquisition targets.

  • Partner with finance team to design quantitative models/tools for forecasting the performance and impact of strategic and operational plans.

  • Directly supervises employees including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • A key thought leader who can create and develop initiatives that will keep the company as an industry leader and translate into tangible shareholder value
  • Must possess the capability to decipher complex sensitive analyses under varying growth assumptions and a proven track record in the development of successful game-changing strategic initiatives
  • Thorough knowledge of methods and techniques for strategic planning, business development, risk and financial management, marketing strategy and tactics, and communication planning.
  • Diverse knowledge of government services trends, industry direction, regulatory compliance, and competitive intelligence with the ability to integrate the information into actionable strategic and long-range plans.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain an effective and collaborative working environment with business leaders, staff, and key customers to build consensus and ensure effective management of complex development projects.
  • Superior negotiating and problem-solving skills with the proven ability to research, investigate and analyze issues to offer effective, insightful solutions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a field related to Amentum service offerings; Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or another related business field is preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in a strategy consulting and/or corporate strategy role with a market-leading firm and/or large government services provider; preferably a fast-paced, dynamic environment; and 8+ years of managerial experience.
  • Experience in leading the strategic planning process for a multi-billion-dollar enterprise
  • Experience with insight and awareness of emerging markets, technology, innovation, and customer trends that will shape future acquisition targets and possess proven ability to present new perspectives on growth possibilities for the existing business
  • Experience with corporate investment strategies as well as obtain/ filter information, identify key issues relevant to the achievement of long-term strategic goals, and develop/propose a course of action for the purpose of accomplishing those goals

Compensation Details:

200K - 230K
