Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. About the role
Intact Financial Corporation (IFC) is looking for a Director, Compliance (Regulatory), Assistant Chief Compliance Officer to play a pivotal role in its Compliance Department. As Director, Compliance, you will be responsible for managing the Regulatory Compliance team.
You will be a key leader in shaping and nurturing our organization's approach to regulatory compliance management and the associated framework, regulatory relationships, assurance, financial crime framework, compliance incident management and mitigation of compliance risks, as well as advancing ethical standards and the fair treatment of customers. This role is critical to building and maintaining trust with our customers, regulators, and stakeholders. This role reports to the Group Chief Compliance Officer.

You will act as manager of a team of legal and compliance professionals, contributing deep regulatory and compliance expertise to maintaining, enhancing and overseeing the regulatory compliance management framework designed to ensure that day-to-day legislative and regulatory compliance management controls are sufficiently robust to achieve compliance with applicable regulation, legislation and best practices.
You will oversee horizon scanning and regulatory change management, provide advice on regulatory compliance and mitigating compliance risks, manage regulatory compliance incidents and lead the compliance assurance program.
You will manage regulatory relationships, including overseeing regulatory requests and supervisory reviews.
You will oversee the Canadian financial crime framework, including the policies and procedures in place to ensure compliance with financial crime legislation.
You will be required to provide developmental support to a team that includes legal and compliance professionals by offering regular and ongoing feedback, mentoring, and coaching.
You will ensure that the values of the organization are upheld to the highest standards and instill a culture of regulatory compliance.
What you bring to the table:
Member of a provincial Law Society in good standing and prior experience working at a large law firm and/or large in-house legal team is an asset.
Minimum 10-years experience as a compliance professional working at a financial institution – is required
Minimum 5 years leading and managing high-performing professionals, including people managers – is required.
Possess a strong understanding of insurance and financial crime legislation in Canada – is required
Demonstrate superior technical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to strategically assess and address regulatory compliance risks.
Exhibit excellent drafting and communication abilities, along with confidence in independently managing strategic files.
Comfortable using technology tools, with proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Capable of proactively proposing innovative business solutions and effectively building relationships with business units and stakeholders to influence decision-making at both operational and corporate levels.
A team player who excels in collaboration with others.
For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
