The Director, Global Communications (Southwest BU) is a strategic thinker and agile communicator, energized by the unexpected and ready to tackle what’s next. This is one of the most dynamic roles in the business, helping develop and shape conversations that matter to the future of retail and the world at large.
You’ll lead high-impact communications efforts that reach diverse audiences across internal and external channels. You’ll need to pivot quickly, manage multiple priorities, and bring executive presence and thought leadership to every challenge.
What you'll do...
- Design and execute media and digital strategies for corporate and business unit clients by identifying opportunities and risks, integrating best practices, and aligning with strategic priorities. Monitor performance, measure impact, and report outcomes to strengthen reputation and drive continuous improvement.
- Guide strategic messaging efforts from rollout through post-launch, including influencer engagement. Assess the financial and social impact of key issues, advise executives on mitigation strategies, and recommend messaging adjustments based on legislation, stakeholder input, or program changes.
- Serving as a high-level company spokesperson to ensure statements and key messages of sensitivity and impact are provided to the media by improving and protecting the corporate or division reputation.
- Providing strategic expertise to Walmart senior management by collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent communication and media relations.
- Ensuring corporate messaging enhances the reputation of business units across Walmart.
- Providing overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs.
- Developing and implementing strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce.
- Developing and leveraging internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals by sponsoring and leading key community outreach and involvement initiatives.
- Engaging key stakeholders in the development, execution, and evaluation of appropriate business plans and initiatives; and supporting associate efforts in these areas.
- Cultivating an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics and supporting the Open Door Policy.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
