Pay Range
$59.00 - $88.50
Provides operational oversight for assigned state's Clinical Documentation Improvement Programs. Accountable for day to day operations at designated sites and ensures alignment with System CDI Strategic plan and site operations. Ensures Advocate Aurora Health CDI practice standards are systemically applied at all Advocate Aurora sites as assigned. Builds relationships with teams, site physicians, Physician Advisor’s, Coding professionals, and others. Leverages performance, provides feedback, and influences to continually improve documentation results and impact key performance indicators.

Major Responsibilities:
- Accountable for ensuring the enterprise strategic and annual operating plans for the Advocate Aurora CDI program are executed across all assigned sites. Utilizes data and metrics to drive the development, implementation and monitoring of process improvement and ensures Advocate Aurora Health CDI practice standards are systematically applied across all Advocate Aurora sites as assigned.
- Proactively collaborates with site/system HIM/ Coding, Care Management, Quality and Finance leaders to investigate negative trends or variances; leverages site / system relationships to resolve performance issues. Collaborates with site (hospital) physicians and physician advisors regarding clinical documentation, coding guidelines and care coordination criteria.
- Ensures leadership, professional development, and team building skills are deployed across teams. Promotes and helps maintain a professional team-oriented, service culture that contributes to achieving intended outcomes. Provides leadership and mentorship to the Managers of CDI to ensure effective implementations, change management, and optimal performance.
- Accountable for all communication and data reporting to site executive, physician and key operational meetings. Regularly meets with site CDI RNs, physicians, physician advisors, coding professionals.
- Collaborates with Managers on staffing plans, team member and physician engagement strategies and financial budgets in assigned state.
- Ensures enterprise CDI program operates under compliant CMS, AHIMA, and ACDIS practice standards and codes of ethics. Collaborates with compliance to ensure the enterprise CDI program meets all state and federal guidelines.
- Performs human resources responsibilities and develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Registered Nurse RN license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
Education Required:
- Master's Degree in Nursing, or Master's Degree in Health Care Administration or related field.
Experience Required:
- Typically requires 7 years of experience in a clinical environment. Includes 3 years of management experience in a clinical environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Ability to prioritize and organize work with demonstrated leadership skills, knowledge of regulatory environment, and knowledge of Microsoft Suite office products.
- Strong analytical ability to gather, interpret, and utilize data in decision making.
- Demonstrated self-direction and results oriented.
- Knowledge of operations improvement and lean methodology.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, Power Point and graphic presentation software.
- Demonstrated political sensitivity to the dynamic interplay that occurs between system and sites.
- Demonstrated success facilitating teams on complex projects.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, applying advanced techniques.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Ability to work in an unstructured, developing environment.
- Ability to make professional presentations before executive level audiences.
