What you’ll be doing 

As the Director, Capital Markets Early Talent, you will provide strategic leadership and operational excellence in the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of CIBC’s Capital Markets Early Talent recruitment, engagement and retention initiatives. This role is pivotal in positioning CIBC as an employer of choice, driving innovative attraction and retention strategies, and ensuring best-in-class candidate and hiring manager experiences. 

You will partner with senior stakeholders and business leaders to develop and execute comprehensive talent attraction strategies, build engagement programs, oversee end-to-end recruitment operations, and manage a high-performing team of  early talent professionals. Your focus will include Capital Markets-specific recruitment, with an emphasis on, connecting talent with opportunity, and building a sustainable pipeline of top early talent to meet business needs. 

You will proactively monitor market trends, and implement emerging best practices to ensure CIBC’s Capital Markets campus recruitment programs remain competitive and effective. You will also lead the planning and execution of student engagement programs, including mentorship, orientations, scholarship and sponsorship initiatives, and external partnerships. 

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role.  You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.  Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.  

How you’ll succeed 

  • Strategic Leadership & Management: Lead the development and execution of Capital Markets early talent recruitment strategies. Act as a subject matter expert, providing direction, identifying operational improvements, and building effective business support models. 
  • Talent Attraction & Sourcing: Identify and implement sourcing channels and identify strategic partnerships to build a strong pipeline of top early talent. Oversee end-to-end recruitment cycles, including on-campus sessions, referral management, calibrations, and offers. 
  • Stakeholder & Relationship Management: Develop strong relationships with executive sponsors, campus committee chairs, HR partners, and business leaders. Partner with key target schools and external organizations to enhance CIBC’s brand and deliver high-caliber student experiences. 
  • Leadership:  Inspire and manage a team to achieve business objectives in alignment with CIBC’s values and strategic priorities. Foster a positive and high-performing work environment by setting clear expectations, coaching for success, supporting professional growth, and regularly reviewing performance. Provide direction, establish priorities, and ensure accountability for results.  
  • Program Management & Continuous Improvement: Oversee Capital Markets student programs, including scholarships, sponsorships, and engagement programs and onboarding activities. Drive continuous improvement, proactively monitor external environments, and implement new best practices. 
  • Reporting, Analysis & Business Acumen: Develop and report on relevant metrics, trends, and performance analytics. Provide insights and recommendations to improve hiring quality and program outcomes. 
  • Creative Problem Solving:  Demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguity, understand business context quickly and connect the dots. Comfortable operating at a strategic level. Continuous improvement is part of your DNA.  

Who you are 

  • You have significant experience in leadership roles within Talent Acquisition, Campus Recruitment, or Early Talent Programs. 
  • You have a strong background in written and verbal communications and can clearly articulate strategies, outcomes and program successes to senior leaders. 
  • You are skilled at motivating, influencing, and developing high-performing teams. 
  • Your influence makes an impact. You have strong influencing skills and an ability to partner with and influence cross functional stakeholders.  
  • You possess strong business acumen, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of recruitment metrics and processes.
