Aditum is distinctive in that the team not only identifies and licenses the drug candidate but also defines, prepares for, and runs the first definitive clinical trials.

Position Summary

The Director, Business Development will support the end-to-end execution of transactions for both Aditum Bio’s existing portfolio companies and new in-licensing opportunities. The Director will be responsible for conducting general BD activities, as well as negotiating and executing a variety of deals spanning external financings (e.g., Series B), license agreements and M&A. This person will play a critical role in shaping and advancing the firm’s growth trajectory.

Responsibilities: 

Portfolio Company Business Development

  • Define and track the buyer/partner/investor universe: Create and maintain a list of key strategic acquirors, partners and investors. Track interactions and progress with each counterparty. Provide regular updates to the company Board of Directors and Aditum Bio Partners.
  • Develop and execute on selling story: Leverage an advanced knowledge of the drug development process and biotech industry landscape, in service of conveying the scientific and/or investment thesis and concepts underlying each company’s program(s) to a wide variety of external stakeholders.
  • Raise awareness for our companies: Support the development of relationships between strategic external partners and Aditum Bio’s portfolio companies, effectively communicating their value proposition and progress to secure financing, partnering and/or M&A opportunities for the companies.
  • Manage the transaction process: Manage cross-functional processes for executing strategic and/or financing transactions including generating high quality confidential and non-confidential slide decks and oversee the creation of organized data rooms to support counterparty due diligence.
  • Lead competitive intelligence: Assess the competitive landscape and track key catalysts for the assigned portfolio companies. Provide regular updates to key stakeholders.
  • Maintain awareness of therapeutic area developments: Stay closely abreast of relevant scientific/R&D progress via published literature, trade press, conferences, patent filings and relationships across academia and industry

In-Licensing Transactions Management

  • Manage the contracting process: Support the formation of new Aditum companies by managing the term sheet and contracting process for in-licensing transactions, including review and negotiation of key deal documents including license agreements and financing documents

Qualifications

  • Significant business development experience with direct experience leading transactions. Investment banking and venture/private equity applicants should also have direct operating experience within biopharmaceutical companies. Business development applicants should have both buy side and sell side experience.
  • Deep understanding of drug development and commercialization processes
  • Strong understanding of deal structures requiring coordination with finance, legal, tax, R&D and commercial stakeholders
  • Deep financial modeling and commercial forecast experience
  • Ability to work effectively with and influence diverse stakeholders across business and scientific functions for greater outcomes

he range for this full-time position is $225,000 - $255,000, plus a target bonus, equity compensation and benefits including medical, dental, vision, and 401k. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location. The range displayed on our postings reflects the minimum and maximum for new hire salaries. Within the range, individual pay is determined by interview performance, job-related skills, experience and relevant education and training. Please note the range reflects base salary and does not include target bonus, equity or benefits.
