Director, Buildings Construction

The Project Director is accountable for the successful delivery of complex construction projects—ensuring they are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. This role provides strategic leadership across multiple teams, sets operational priorities, and allocates resources to drive performance and results.

The Project Director plays a key role in shaping the strategic direction and vision of the division by leading project teams, mentoring managers, and providing high-level guidance to ensure excellence in execution.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage the overall site safety program, including subcontractor compliance with Ledcor standards, the Project Specific Safety Plan (PSSP), and all applicable OH&S Acts, Regulations, and Codes.
  • Ensure project materials are procured and work is completed in accordance with the Project Quality Program (PQP).
  • Oversee construction activities to ensure projects are delivered according to approved plans, specifications, shop drawings, applicable building codes, and Ledcor’s high-quality standards.
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain the master construction schedule in collaboration with the project team, ensuring key milestones and completion dates are achieved.
  • Lead project meetings with internal and external stakeholders to monitor progress, address challenges, and support ongoing project success.
  • Provide strong, visible leadership to construction team members, leveraging individual and team strengths to achieve project targets.
  • Proactively identify and manage project risks to minimize impacts to schedule, budget, and overall performance.
  • Oversee and track all financial aspects of the project, including reporting, forecasting, cost control, and billings.
  • Lead the procurement process, including subcontractor, trade, and supplier negotiations and contract awards.
  • Ensure all project documentation and correspondence are accurately maintained, addressed, and properly archived.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of progressive construction experience as a Project Manager or in a similar senior leadership role.
  • Experience with ICI, commercial or residential projects
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • Extensive understanding of current construction practices, methodologies, and industry standards.
  • Strong negotiation, contract administration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to develop, manage, and deliver against detailed project schedules.
  • Deep understanding of construction costs, budgeting, and financial controls.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build long-term partnerships and foster strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to anticipate constructability challenges in complex environments and develop innovative, practical solutions aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Proven track record of building high-performing teams through motivation, coaching, mentorship, and consensus-building across complex or interdependent projects.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, with the ability to quickly learn new systems and tools.
