Role and Responsibilities

The Director, Brand Governance leads Samsung Electronics America’s (SEA) brand and creative governance across North America. Acting as the U.S. lead for Visual Identity (VI), this role bridges global policy with local execution, ensuring every asset produced under the Samsung name reflects the precision, innovation, and design excellence expected of a top-five global brand.

The position combines strategic oversight with creative leadership: managing internal designers, directing agency partners, and operationalizing governance systems to ensure brand consistency across channels and business lines.

Brand Governance & Compliance Leadership

  • Responsible for Samsung’s Visual Identity and Brand Governance, interpreting and implementing global standards across SEA.
  • Lead SEA’s asset review and approval processes across Corporate Marketing, Product Divisions, CRM, and Partner initiatives.
  • Partner with the Global Brand Center (GBC) and Global Marketing Office (GMO) to align on policy, escalate exceptions, and localize brand guidance.
  • Review and advise on collaboration and co-branding contracts to ensure legal agreements adhere to Samsung brand standards.
  • Responsible for overseeing compliance, monitoring, and governance of generative AI tools within Samsung’s Firefly system, making sure all uploads and outputs meet corporate data security, confidentiality, and pre-launch protection requirements.

Creative Direction & Team Management

  • Directly managing two in-house designers defining creative direction, review concepts, ensure craft quality, and mentor designers for consistency with global standards.
  • Oversee daily intake, prioritization, and quality control of 10-15 projects of varying complexity.

Agency & Cross-Functional Partner Oversight

  • Offer governance direction to external agencies across all Lines of Business and functions.
  • Review agency work for brand, co-branding, and visual compliance prior to launch.
  • Advise on multi-channel touchpoints including Social, CRM, Times Square DOOH, etc.

Systems & Operations Management

  • Lead implementation of project management workflows to standardize creative tracking and intake.
  • Oversee VI Portal and Digital Asset Management (DAM) compliance, ensuring proper access, tagging, and asset governance.
  • Manage and deliver VI training for 177 internal and 113 external partners, maintaining SEA-wide compliance culture.

Strategic Programs & Global Alignment

  • Operate as SEA’s governance lead for Strategic initiatives like Olympics and SEA’s expansion to new platforms, responsible for supporting asset review and TRACK-system coordination once production begins.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on governance initiatives including DAM evaluation, partnership alignment, and global audit readiness.

  

Skills and Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • 15 + years in brand governance, creative operations, or design management within a global organization.
  • Proven success managing internal design teams and external agency ecosystems.
  • Deep understanding of visual-identity systems, co-branding governance, and multi-channel creative production.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, DAM, JIRA
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Marketing, or Communications (required)

  • Master’s Degree preferred

The salary range for this role is expected to be between $241,500 and $298,500.  Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
