What you will do- Leads, develops, and directs a comprehensive program of behavioral health designed to assess and treat the psychological needs of the community and their families. Plans scope and emphasis of mental health services and programs for inpatient care and emergency services.
- Oversees day-to-day operations and administration of the hospital clinical behavioral health programs including development and management of annual budgets and financial resources.
- Identifies and executes strategies to enhance the quality of patient care through enhanced teamwork and close collaboration with hospital leaders and medical staff. This identification may occur through multiple departments, divisions, or agencies.
- Collaborates with medical staff leadership to develop and/or revise standards of care with attention to evidence-based practice.
- In collaboration with medical leadership, leads the development and successful attainment of quality indicators in all mental health patient care areas.
- Provides leadership and expertise in the entire revenue cycle for mental health services including support for payor contracting, individual letters of agreement for services, coding for charges, coordination of medical versus mental health benefits and follow up on collections.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, DNV and other applicable regulatory standards and practices with special emphasis on the unique requirements for mental health services.
- Manages and maintains a competent, productive, and quality staff. Motivates, develops, and directs associates in the department; conducts performance evaluations and disciplinary actions; participates in the recruitment and hiring of new associates; serves as resource for enhancement of professional competency.
- Interacts and collaborates with MHMH CMOs and other senior leaders in the process of coordinating psychiatric consultation-liaison services for the MHMH Adult facilities.
- Serves as Methodist LeBonheur Healthcare representative at State level meetings pertaining to psychiatry and behavioral health issues (i.e. THA Psych Section, TDMHSAS Commissioner, etc.).
Education/Formal Training Requirements- Master's Degree Counseling
- Master's Degree Psychology
- Master's Degree Social Work
Work Experience Requirements- 3-5 years Administrative and clinical management
- 5-7 years Clinical healthcare (acute or hospital)
Licenses and Certifications Requirements- Licensed Professional Counselor Tennessee - Tennessee Board for Professional Counselors and Marital and Family Therapists
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Knowledge of individual and group therapy concepts and methods, as used with addictive disease clients.
- Knowledge of current methods of treatment of psychiatric diseases and alternative treatment delivery.
- Knowledge of basic principles of research, statistics, data collection, and analysis.
- Demonstrated experience and capability to lead implementation of behavioral health programs with specific emphasis on psychiatry.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications and experience with database systems.
- Ability to work independently, exercise appropriate action and good business judgement.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, organize tasks, and maintain control of work flow.
- Ability to evaluate abstract medical data and effectively analyze the data, identify problems, and make recommendations.
- Requires an exceptional communicator to effectively collaborate with all levels of Associates, management, physicians, patients and their families.
- Ability to lead and motivate individuals and groups toward the accomplishment of assigned tasks and organizational goals.
- Strong organizational, managerial, and supervisory skills.
Supervision Provided by this Position- Directs the activities of clinical behavioral health work, counseling staff, support staff, and staff employed by vendors.
Physical Demands- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
- The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
