In this role, you will lead and oversee Support and Production Operations and support Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) solutions for applications in Investor Services Technology department. You will work collaboratively with delivery teams, technology partners, and business stakeholders to ensure robust, reliable, and secure production operation. Your leadership will drive best-in-class technical solutions while fostering a high-performing team culture.

What will you do?

This is a transformative technical leadership and operational role with the following primary responsibilities:

Technical Leadership:

  • Responsible to grow adoption of new technologies within support teams
  • Align AI initiatives with the organization's overarching vision for intelligent operations. This includes understanding how AI will transform support and maintenance activities.
  • Articulate AI's transformative impact on current and future business objectives, including its potential to drive new business models, regenerate existing workflows, optimize operations, and deliver measurable value based on key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Enable teams to meet objectives, and drive implementation of enhanced processes, tools, and methods that result in increased agility and effective cost management
  • Develop governance of unit, working with executive leadership to provide the structure and definition to effectively manage the support organization
  • Run regular forums to facilitate review of solutions aligned with strategic vision

Production Support:

  • Oversee production support operations, including off-hours support responsibilities
  • Lead incident and problem management for applications in scope
  • Continuously evaluate performance and identify improvement opportunities
  • Ensure systems maintain technology currency with focus on automation opportunities
  • Maintain availability and uptime of applications per service level objectives
  • Ensure compliance and segregation of duties across all systems

Strategy & Operations:

  • Drive the overall operational strategy, owning roadmap development and execution
  • Drive participation in strategic optimization initiatives
  • Enable teams to meet objectives by implementing process improvements that increase agility and cost effectiveness
  • Grow adoption of new technologies and tools within the organization

People Leadership:

  • Build and develop a high-performing diverse team
  • Provide coaching, direction and career development opportunities
  • Establish clear goals and performance expectations aligned with RBC vision
  • Attract, hire and retain top talent

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Over 5 years in software engineering (SRE, DevOps, Cloud, Data) with 5+ years of people management experience.
  • Deep knowledge of SRE industry practices, with hands-on experience in cloud, distributed systems, mainframe, APIs, databases, and business workflows.
  • Proven ability to lead SRE and application development teams, driving technical excellence and operational resilience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of AI’s disruptive potential, including its impact on business models and competitive advantage.
  • Strong domain knowledge, enabling effective alignment of technical solutions with organizational goals.
  • Direct, clear communication style with exceptional negotiation skills and stakeholder management capabilities. Ability to influence executives, IT partners, and business leaders.
  • Experienced in managing third-party relationships and vendor partnerships.
  • Proficient in SRE tools and languages, including Ansible, Dynatrace Managed, Moog, PagerDuty, ServiceNow, GitHub, Slack, Elastic Stack (ELK), and Blue Prism.
  • Holds a degree/diploma in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Nice-to-have:

  • Advanced certifications in cloud platforms or SRE methodologies
  • Experience in financial services or asset management domains
