Job Summary
The Director, Application Management is a senior technology leader accountable for Front-End (FE) portfolio delivery, execution governance, and large-scale system modernization outcomes. This role provides enterprise-level oversight across multiple strategic programs, ensuring alignment with business strategy, regulatory expectations, and technology modernization roadmaps.
The incumbent sets delivery standards, governance rhythms, and performance metrics across FE initiatives, while partnering closely with business executives, architecture, engineering, risk, compliance, and external vendors. Beyond delivery assurance, the role shapes execution strategy, builds leadership capability within the project management function, and drives a strong ownership and accountability culture.
The Job
- Own FE portfolio-level governance, including investment prioritization, delivery health, risk posture, and benefits realization across multiple concurrent programs
- Act as a senior point of contact for business executives, regulators, internal audit, and key external partners on FE delivery and modernization matters. Influence senior stakeholders to enable timely decision-making, risk acceptance, and prioritization in complex and ambiguous environments
- Define and continuously enhance FE delivery standards, metrics, and reporting frameworks to ensure predictability, transparency, and audit readiness
- Provide executive sponsorship and oversight for complex, cross-domain transformation programs covering application modernization, platform enablement, and digital initiatives
- Oversee strategic vendor partnerships, including delivery performance, SOW governance, commercial milestones, and value realization
- Drive vendor accountability and continuous improvement, ensuring outcomes align with FE priorities, quality standards, and cost efficiency objectives
- Ensure programs are delivered to agreed scope, timeline, budget, quality, SDLC governance compliance and regulatory expectations, with proactive management of systemic risks and inter-program dependencies
- Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement across internal teams and vendors
- Champion modern delivery practices (Agile, hybrid, scaled delivery) and continuously uplift organizational capability
The Person
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business or a related field
- Minimum 18 years of progressive experience in Financial Industry, with at least 10 years in IT delivery / PM / modernization roles, with management experience
- Certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) and/or Agile (e.g., SAFe, PMI-ACP, or Scrum Master) are required
- Proven track record in leading complex, cross-functional transformation portfolios with multiple vendors and delivery models
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence, challenge, and align senior stakeholders
- Deep understanding of SDLC governance, risk management, and regulatory expectations within financial institutions
- Strong business acumen to translate technology strategy and delivery performance into business outcomes
- High resilience, sound judgment under ambiguity, and a strong ownership mindset with a focus on results and sustainability
