What you'll be doing
As the Director, Application Development, you'll lead the technology teams responsible for the BCLASS (Small Business Loan System) and BUF (Business and Farm Loans) applications at CIBC. You'll also play a key advisory and ownership role in the Onboarding and Deposits workstream of the Ascend Program—a strategic initiative focused on replacing core legacy platforms to digitize, automate, and simplify the onboarding and deposits journey for both team members and clients. Your leadership will be essential to ensuring the successful integration and implementation of new and existing systems, directly supporting Small Business Banking at CIBC. You'll oversee the full lifecycle of application development, maintenance, and modernization for Tier 1 systems, supporting business credit origination, adjudication, funding, and insurance operations. In this role, you'll partner with business stakeholders and vendors to drive technology transformation, ensure operational excellence, and foster a culture of innovation, agility, and continuous improvement within your teams.

How you'll succeed

Relationship Management – Build strong relationships with project teams, executives, stakeholders, and business partners to develop and implement application programs. Advise application owners on technology implementation possibilities and requirements to drive business impact.
Solution Creation and Alignment – Lead, facilitate, and coordinate solution design, ensuring alignment across multiple workstreams and supporting enterprise technology modernization and enhancement.
Who you are
You're a seasoned technical leader. You have 7-10 years of experience in technical architecture, solutions design, application development, and senior executive stakeholder management.
You bring a strong technical background. You possess the depth and breadth to recognize and capitalize on opportunities for effective IT development or usage, and you can lead and guide experienced technical specialists. It's an asset if you've held leadership and advisory roles for major functions or initiatives with decision-making authority.
You have highly developed analytical and conceptual skills. You're skilled at developing efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex challenges.
You are a bold and authentic leader. You're passionate about developing and coaching others to bring out their best, and have led diverse, high-performing teams.
