The Director, Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Services provides leadership, direction, and resource stewardship to The US Oncology Network (The Network) and is responsible for aligning APP objectives with The Network’s affiliated practices’ vision and strategy.
The Director of APP Services works collaboratively with The Network practices, leadership, and McKesson/USON leadership to implement processes and procedures to ensure the delivery of high-quality comprehensive patient care. He/she has responsibility for leading and further developing Network strategy for optimally positioning APPs within new and innovative models of care that increase the value equation for clinical care delivery across all geographies, specialties, and care sites. Provides leadership and direction to internal McKesson, as well as affiliated practice leadership teams for developing and implementing pioneering methods to achieve Network goals through high-performing care teams, enhanced APP integration of APPs, and optimization of APP care operations.
The ideal candidate will identify and execute on a variety of operational and strategic initiatives that optimize the support of The Network practices with three primary goals: 1) strengthening the operational and financial performance of the practices through APP integration 2) further developing operational and financial frameworks that position The Network as a preferred employer of APPs practicing in community oncology/surgery setting and 3) improving the quality of multi-disciplinary high-value care through maximizing the role of the APP within Network practices.
Key Responsibilities
Implement models of care that expand efficiency within practices utilizing APPs
Pilot, scale, and evaluate new models that empower APPs to drive operational efficiency and patient access
Lead cross-functional teams within the corporate umbrella to develop, implement, and measure KPIs for APP initiatives
Demonstrate APP value in multi-specialty healthcare environment
Demonstrate a deep understanding of state regulations and revenue cycle issues that impact successful APP practice
Serve as subject matter expert on APP practice
Strategic APP Growth and Development
Support practices with recruitment and retention-related activities
Analyze and implement best practices from The Network and external sources to standardize APP utilization
Partner with various teams across The Network to represent APP goals during practice strategic planning sessions
Foster a culture of transparency, feedback, and shared leadership across multidisciplinary teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration
Support and participate in APP Leadership opportunities including mentorship
Participate in and lead educational opportunities to support The Network APPs
Minimume Requirements
Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing or PA Studies
10+ years of APP professional experience and 3+ years of leadership experience in oncology
National Board Certification and Licensure
Critical Skills
Significant prior leadership experience developing and implementing various clinical and business models that support providers and patients
Proven track record of successful relationship development with key business stakeholders
Strong working knowledge of APP utilization across multi-specialties
Proven experience managing many diverse projects and programs related to oncology APP services that have demonstrated positive results on patient outcomes
Preferred Skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey complex clinical and operational concepts to diverse audiences including executive leadership, multidisciplinary teams, and external partners
Demonstrated ability to lead teams through organizational changes and implement new care models
Proficiency in interpreting financial data, ROI models, and operational metrics
Develop and deliver presentations for leadership forums, APP bootcamps, and USON- level engagements, comfortable presenting to large and varied audiences
Travel
Travel up to 30% required to client sites, business partners and internal meetings
