Position Summary

Director who serves as Operations Director for the Anatomic Pathology division in the Department of Pathology; utilizes management, customer service, and multiple technical skills to oversee the Anatomic Pathology Operations and laboratory managers for the Gross Room labs, Tissue Procurement Services, Histology lab, IHC lab, Biomarker Reference Lab, Renal Pathology labs (EM and IF), OSU Histology, LLC, Autopsy/Morgue, Hematopathology office, Dermatopathology office, Cytology lab and office , Pathology Support Services (Clinical Documentation office, Information and Consultation offices) ; continually evaluates, develops and implements quality improvements for anatomic pathology clinical services; ensures the evaluation, production, completion, and accuracy of high quality technical methods and processes in a timely fashion; develops and maintains procedures that oversee the input of clinical data entered into the Laboratory Information System (Beaker); works in conjunction with the Anatomic Pathology Quality Director to maintain and ensure the pathology quality plan; works in conjunction with AP Division Directors to maintain high quality methods, processes and operations; interacts with pathologists, surgeons, clinicians, laboratory managers, laboratory staff to provide quality services and technical assistance; ensures CAP and New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) inspection readiness for Anatomic Pathology; ensures staff compliance with all testing, billing, and reporting requirements; responsible for assessing and implementing new changes in technology, laboratory design and equipment for the Anatomic Pathology Laboratories; plans for new approaches to improve the quality of service.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution OR Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology AND Bachelor's degree in a chemical or biological science. 7 years of relevant experience required. ASCP certification required within 1 year of hire.
