How We Work

We work in a hybrid way, spending at least 3 days a week together in the office for collaboration, quick decision-making, and relationship-building. Outside of that, we’re flexible, you’ll have space to manage your schedule and focus where you work best.

About the Role:

Gen is building the most forward-thinking, AI-native Global Marketing organization in the industry, and this role is central to making that real. As Director, AI Innovation & Effectiveness, Global Marketing, you will report to the Chief Marketing Officer and be a key member of the Marketing Leadership Team, operating at the intersection of strategy, innovation, execution, and change leadership.

You will partner directly with the CMO and senior marketing leaders to identify the most transformative AI opportunities across the full marketing lifecycle—from strategy and planning to creative, media, operations, and measurement—then guide those opportunities from concept through pilot to global scale, ensuring measurable impact on efficiency, effectiveness, and excellence in everything marketing does.

This role can be based in one of our hub sites: Mountain View, CA, New York City, or Tempe. It is initially an individual-contributor role with the potential to build out a small central AI innovation and enablement team over time as programs scale.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead AI Strategy & Transformation in Global Marketing

  • Define and drive the AI strategy and program roadmap for Global Marketing, positioning Gen as the destination marketing team for AI-native talent and designing AI-first workflows and operating practices.
  • Guide the Marketing Leadership Team in prioritizing AI use cases that are tightly aligned to strategic objectives, performance outcomes, and ways-of-working improvements.
  • Partner with Technology, Data, and Analytics teams to ensure AI initiatives are designed to deliver measurable business impact and can be integrated into core marketing systems and processes.

Test, Prove, and Scale High-Impact AI Use Cases

  • Identify, pilot, and validate AI use cases across the marketing lifecycle, from strategy and planning to creative development, media activation, marketing operations, and performance measurement.
  • Establish a disciplined test-and-learn model: track pilots, measure outcomes, codify learnings, and scale proven solutions globally across brands and regions.
  • Translate strategic marketing challenges into agent-led solutions (e.g., briefing agents, optimization agents, insights agents, performance diagnostics agents) and define standards and best practices for agent development, reuse, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to chain agents together to unlock step-change improvements in speed, quality, and decision-making for marketing teams.

Measure What Matters

  • Define clear success metrics that demonstrate AI’s role in fueling bold, high-impact marketing while also delivering productivity and efficiency gains.
  • Own or orchestrate AI metrics tracking tools and dashboards that make progress visible, understandable, and actionable for leaders and practitioners across Global Marketing.

Enable Responsible, Fast-Moving AI

  • Partner closely with Legal, Privacy, and Technology teams to ensure AI is used responsibly, ethically, and compliantly—without slowing innovation and experimentation.
  • Help operationalize AI governance frameworks that empower teams to move faster with confidence, including guidelines for appropriate use, approvals, and escalation paths.
  • Contribute to practical policies and best practices for AI tools, data usage, and vendor selection across Global Marketing.

Build an AI-Native Marketing Culture

  • Lead our Global Marketing GenAI Collective, fostering collaboration, experimentation, and shared learning across brands, regions, and disciplines.
  • Own and evolve our AI Show-N-Tell program to spotlight internal wins, share real examples, and inspire broader adoption of AI-first ways of working.
  • Develop training programs, toolkits, and playbooks that make AI adoption easy, practical, and rewarding for marketers at every level, from early-career practitioners to senior leaders.

Stay Ahead of the Curve

  • Track market shifts, emerging tools, and breakthrough AI capabilities relevant to marketing, including new approaches to agents, LLM applications, generative creative, and optimization workflows.
  • Bring forward insights, recommendations, and opportunities that keep Gen’s Global Marketing organization ahead of competitors and peers in how we apply AI.

About You:

You are a senior marketing and transformation leader who blends deep understanding of how modern marketing works with hands-on experience applying AI to real business problems. You’re equally comfortable shaping vision with executives and rolling up your sleeves with practitioners to turn that vision into pilots, roadmaps, and measurable outcomes. You have a builder mindset, are energized by ambiguity and experimentation, and know how to scale what works into durable ways of working across a global organization.

Education:

  • Formal education in marketing, business, data/technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience across marketing, including marketing/media or creative/content roles, marketing operations, digital transformation, or data-driven innovation.
  • Significant experience leading AI-powered initiatives in marketing or adjacent functions (for example, owning AI workstreams, programs, or pilots), with a proven track record taking solutions from concept through pilot to global scale.
  • Experience with AI governance, policy, risk, and ethical frameworks in a commercial environment.
  • Experience leading an AI Center of Excellence or a large-scale marketing transformation is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with marketing-specific AI tools and platforms across creative, media, operations, and analytics (e.g., genAI creative tools, media optimization and bidding platforms, workflow automation, and insights/analytics solutions).

Skills:

  • Deep familiarity with AI agents, large language model (LLM) applications, generative AI tools, and associated implementation workflows.
  • Ability to translate strategic marketing challenges into agent-led and AI-enabled solutions, and to design playbooks and roadmaps that accelerate adoption and value capture across brands and regions.
  • Strong capability to define success metrics, build or orchestrate dashboards, and use data to tell a clear story about AI’s impact on performance, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Demonstrated strength partnering with Technology, Data, Analytics, Legal, and Privacy teams to deliver robust, compliant AI solutions that can be embedded into core marketing workflows.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to inspire, influence, and align senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams around AI-driven change.

Personal Attributes:

  • AI-native mindset: Sees AI as a teammate and is excited to empower marketers with AI-first ways of working, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
  • Hands-on builder: Comfortable moving from vision to execution, testing ideas quickly, iterating based on feedback and data, and scaling what works across teams and markets.
  • Strategic and executional: Equally credible in conversations with executives on long-term strategy and with practitioners on day-to-day workflows, tools, and adoption challenges.
  • Inclusive, collaborative leader: Fosters healthy debate, shared learning, and a sense of community around AI, and creates space for marketers with different skill sets and comfort levels to come on the journey.
  • Change agent: Energized by ambiguity and transformation, with the resilience to navigate complexity and the curiosity to stay ahead of a fast-moving AI landscape.
