What is the opportunity

The Director, AI & Data Strategic Modernization role is responsible for translating RBC Insurance's business strategies into actionable AI and data initiatives, aligned to the digital roadmap, that drive scalable growth, operational efficiency, and enhanced customer outcomes across the Insurance value chain. The role will be responsible for creating a sequenced, value-driven modernization roadmap that evolves the organization’s data, AI, and intelligent automation capabilities. This role will also be responsible for continuous business value tracking and providing competitive intelligence on Data and AI industry practices.

What will you do?

  • Partner with Insurance business leaders across underwriting, claims, distribution, and product development to understand strategic priorities, growth targets, and market positioning goals

  • Identify AI/data initiatives that directly support insurance P&L objectives and competitive differentiation and collaborate with Digital Strategy team to ensure strategic alignment and develop multi-year initiative roadmaps, sequencing initiatives based on value, risk, and organizational readiness

  • Identify and quantify AI-driven value pools and partner with Finance to measure business value and realization generated by data products and AI initiatives

  • Develop and refine business cases tied to measurable financial outcomes

  • Craft executive level modernization narratives and translate technical evolution into business language

  • Assess capability maturity across data, AI, analytics, and orchestration

  • Create and maintain executive dashboards tracking Data & AI investments relative to value generation and ROI

  • Monitor insurance industry trends and competitive AI/data strategies to identify market opportunities and potential threats

What do you need to succeed?

Must-Have:

  • 10+ years of experience in strategy consulting, product management, or business strategy roles

  • 5+ years of experience in insurance industry with understanding of underwriting, claims, and distribution domains

  • Demonstrated experience with data analytics, applied AI, or digital transformation initiatives

  • Strong financial acumen and ability to understand Insurance financials

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred

  • Strong communication skills with proven ability to synthetize ambiguity into clarity

Nice-to-Have:

  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate with senior executives and cross-functional teams

  • Strong stakeholder management and vendor relationship management experience

Compensation for this position (including salary and discretionary/variable payments) will be determined by factors, including but not limited to candidate's experience, skills, registration status, performance, individual goals, market conditions, and business needs.

Pay Range

The expected pay range for this position is:

$110,000.00 - $160,000.00
