What we’re looking for: 

Nexamp is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to head our Asset Management Accounting team. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive meaningful impact in the renewable energy sector by leading both technical accounting functions and operational process improvements critical to the performance of our asset portfolio.

You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls for Nexamp’s solar and storage assets. You’ll guide a high-performing team of managers, strengthen operational effectiveness, and ensure accurate, timely, and transparent financial insights that support strategic decision-making across the company.

This hybrid role is based in Boston, Massachusetts, and reports to the SVP, Accounting.

What you’ll do:  

Responsible for the execution and performance of accounting and finance activities, including, but not limited to:

  • Oversee accounting and financial reporting for solar and storage assets, including project-level entities, partnerships, and tax equity structures.
  • Ensure compliance with ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition), ASC 842 (Lease Accounting), and partnership accounting standards.
  • Lead the Asset Management Accounting team through effective goal setting, delegation, and communication.
  • Strengthen financial operations, internal controls, and reporting processes through enhanced use of NetSuite and process automation.
  • Partner with Corporate Accounting, Tax, Customer Experience Operations, Asset Management and Treasury/ Project Finance teams to ensure seamless coordination of Portfolio/ Project level transactions and reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams on strategic Company initiatives.
  • Assess, implement, and monitor all internal control practices including accuracy of system reports used for financial reporting and direct department policies and procedures.
  • Direct, coordinate and maintain and control the Portfolios/ Project accounting and reporting in accordance with US GAAP, IFRS as well as with department policies and procedures.
  • Partner with Capital Markets, Asset Management and Project Finance to ensure models reflect actual performance, accounting policy changes, and cash flow impacts on investor returns.
  • Collaborate with Nexamp Energy Center, Asset Management, Community Solar Asset Management and Billing and Collections Teams on Company Initiatives and Monthly Performance.
  • Lead process automation and system improvements within NetSuite and related reporting platforms to support scaling asset operations.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of annual budgets, forecasts, and budget-to-actual analyses.
  • Manage investor reporting, project-level cash management, and equity distributions to ensure compliance with debt service and return requirements.
  • Support continuous team development through mentoring and performance feedback.

What you’ll bring: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • 7-12 years of progressive accounting experience, including a minimum of 5 years in public accounting. Experience in renewable energy, project-based accounting, or infrastructure strongly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP with a focus on renewable energy accounting (PPAs, RECs, HLBV, tax equity and project finance structures).
  • Expertise in financial reporting, consolidations, and internal controls.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with ability to develop accounting talent.
  • Proven experience in managing external audits and ensuring clean audit opinions.
  • Ability to interpret complex contracts and accounting guidance in a fast-growing, multi-entity organization.
  • Proficiency in NetSuite or comparable ERP system and advanced excel and Power BI capabilities.
  • Having CPA License and MBA are nice to have.

Compensation

The reasonably estimated salary for this role at Nexamp ranges from $175,000 - $200,000. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual bonus programs based on individual and company performance, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans). Additionally, you may be eligible to participate in the Company’s stock option plan. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but is not limited to, skills and qualifications, internal equity, performance, and geographic location.
