Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems sector (NGDS) is hiring a Director 2 Quality and Mission Assurance (Q&MA) to join our team. This position will report to the Sector Vice President of Quality, Manufacturing and Infrastructure (QM&I) and will have regular interface with the Defense Systems Sector President and Senior Leadership Team. This leadership opportunity will be located at a major Defense Systems site (McLean, Virginia; Huntsville, Alabama; Roy, Utah; or Linthicum, Maryland).
In this role, you will be serving as Q&MA Director responsible for all Quality and compliance related activities in Development, Production, Sustainment, and Supplier Quality, and will be responsible for the oversight of Q&MA employees across more than 30 sites.
This position requires management and leadership of key strategies, systems and governance processes including the Management Review, Supplier Disclosure Board, Risk Management, Site Performance, Program Management, and Customer Reviews. The Q&MA Director will regularly interface with internal and external customers regarding requirements and understanding stakeholder expectations and develop controls that build confidence for process execution.
The selected candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to prepare and present to the customers and the Defense Systems leadership team. This role also requires strategic thought leadership, ability to think innovatively, challenge traditional ways where appropriate, and to both influence and demonstrate accountability for business outcomes in a very demanding and challenging environment.
The role is responsible for:
- Working with the VP QM&I, sets the strategic direction for the quality organization in support of the overall DS long range strategic plan
- Supports the Quality Management Systems and ensures adherence to corporate/sector policies and procedures as well as contractual quality requirements for the vast portfolio of programs
- Ensures timely support and flow down of sector/division/site goals and key operating factors to include support of the Defense Systems goals.
- Maintains the Programs Quality Plans
- Provides oversight for all Q&MA budgets for the program
- Develops and approves Q&MA input for proposals
- Staffs and manages Q&MA personnel assigned to sites (Quality Engineering, Compliance, Inspection, Software Quality and Supplier Quality)
- Provides direct interface with Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) customer across all sites
- Works with the Divisions’ and sites QMA leadership to improve factory execution by consistently improving product quality process, methods and tools
- Performs or assures quality, risk management, safety, reliability, and maintainability of program achievements, subcontractors, and suppliers in accordance with contractual requirements
- Assesses program performance and risks, and validates performance metrics reporting
Basic Qualifications:
- Must have one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of related professional and/or military experience that includes a background in the aircraft, aerospace, and/or manufacturing industries
- Master’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of related professional and/or military experience that includes a background in the aircraft, aerospace, and/or manufacturing industries
- Prior experience leading multi-site and geographically diverse teams
- Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance
- Must be able to travel as needed (up to 50% of the time)
- Must be able to work on-site in at least one of the following locations:
- McLean, Virginia
- Huntsville, Alabama
- Roy, Utah
- Linthicum, Maryland
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active DoD Secret or Top Secret (TS) clearance (in-scope)
- Experience in Advanced Quality Product Planning and advanced root cause analysis processes
- Demonstrated ability to develop and translate strategy into practice
- Bias for action and willingness to drive accountability to solve problems quickly
- Strong orientation to change in a dynamic and logistically challenging environment
- Advanced level of understanding of complex quality policies, procedures, and governmental regulations
- Ability to analyze alternative courses of action where decisions have risk/reward implications for program or area of influence
- A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, globally, and to all levels of any organization
- STEM degree
Primary Level Salary Range: $209,100.00 - $363,100.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
