Dinning Residence and Sustainability Coordinator

Under the direction of the Dining Residence and Sustainability Lead, assists with and coordinates all aspects of dining hall operations and housekeeping for all residence halls; performs specific hands-on duties related to dining hall operations including but not limited to menu and food preparation for groups of up to 100 individuals at a time, managing food inventory, adhering to proper food handling and food safety procedures, and maintaining cleanliness of dining hall; performs specific hands-on duties related to residence hall housekeeping including but not limited to sweeping, dusting, cleaning restrooms, and cleaning of all bedding and linens as needed; provides exceptional customer service to all guests including students, faculty, researchers, staff and other visitors; attends and participates in meetings as needed; provides updates and reports to Dining & Residence Lead and others as needed; identifies and communicates issues related to the dining and residence hall operations; serves as a key member of an integrated team. Position is a seasonal appointment that will last from late spring to late summer (flexible beginning and end dates). Position located at Put-In-Bay, Ohio.

Minimum Education Required
High School diploma

Required Qualifications

Excellent customer service skills; ability to work with a diverse population and as a team; must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings and some holidays; valid driver’s license; successful completion of a background check.

Desired Qualifications

0-2 years of relevant experience with the food industry, food handling, special events and/or hospitality services; experience with dining and residence hall protocols; knowledge of the Put-In-Bay and Lake Erie area; ability to lift 30lbs.

Ohio Sea Grant and Stone Lab are part of The Ohio State University’s College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences and NOAA Sea Grant, a network of 34 Sea Grant programs dedicated to the protection and sustainable use of marine and Great Lakes resources. Stone Lab is Ohio State’s island campus on Lake Erie, offering year-round research, summer science courses and outreach programming. 

This is a classified civil service position; food production associate 1, which carries a 180 day probationary period.

The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications
