Job Description:
The Director, Digital Marketing, leads the enterprise digital marketing ecosystem for Greif and its subsidiaries. This role encompasses digital content, AI-driven search visibility, marketing automation, and global web strategy, aiming to accelerate revenue, strengthen brand authority, and enhance customer acquisition and retention.
This leader sets the vision and execution roadmap for global websites, AI search optimization, marketing automation, email marketing, and sales enablement platforms. The role partners closely with Global Sales, Product Management, and IT to ensure digital channels drive measurable commercial impact.
The Director operates with a performance mindset, using data, analytics, and AI-powered insights to continuously improve engagement, conversion, and pipeline contribution.
Key Responsibilities
- Leads the global organization in defining communication & marketing priorities and timing.
- Promotes and maintains the brand image across the global organization. Analyzes brand perception and ensures positive impact of the brand in the market.
- Define and implement communication strategies to entrench a repeatable model for achieving a strong communication & marketing plan for each market segment that result in enhanced lead generation and sales growth.
- Foster collaborative, integrated working relationships across the organization to jointly achieve business strategies and growth objectives.
- Define annual communication plans. Lead the creation and implementation of new ideas, tools, and documents.
- Execute marketing communications elements of the strategic marketing plans.
- Lead cross-functional teams to activate on strategic marketing actions; monitor success and continually refine processes and goals.
- Performs other duties assigned.
Digital and AI Strategy Leadership
- Define and execute a global digital marketing strategy aligned to business growth objectives
- Lead AI-driven search strategy, including SEO, generative engine optimization, structured data, and content architecture to maximize visibility across traditional and AI-powered search platforms
- Establish digital KPIs tied directly to revenue, pipeline, and customer acquisition
- Build and manage the digital roadmap across web, automation, and analytics
Global Web and Search Excellence
- Own global enterprise websites with strong governance, multilingual capabilities, and localized content strategy
- Elevate global web presence to best-in-class performance standards focused on user experience, speed, accessibility, and conversion
- Lead organic and paid search programs, including technical SEO, content strategy, PPC, and AI search optimization
- Ensure product content is optimized across all digital touchpoints in all languages
Marketing Automation and Email Marketing
- Own global marketing automation strategy, including segmentation, lead scoring, nurture programs, and lifecycle marketing
- Execution of email marketing programs, digital newsletters, and automated campaigns to drive qualified leads and customer engagement
- Optimize landing pages and digital journeys to increase conversion rates
- Align automation strategy with CRM and sales processes to improve lead quality and velocity
Digital Commerce
- Connect with Regional Marketing and Sales to determine geo-located specific campaigns
- Partner with Sales and IT to enhance digital buying experiences and customer self-service capabilities
Sales Enablement and Commercial Alignment
- Lead digital sales enablement tools and content platforms to support global commercial teams
- Ensure seamless integration between marketing automation, CRM, and sales enablement systems
- Provide actionable insights to Sales leadership on digital performance and campaign effectiveness
Analytics and Performance Management
- Establish enterprise dashboards that track web traffic, engagement, conversion, pipeline contribution, and ROI
- Use predictive analytics and AI tools to optimize campaigns and content performance
- Translate data into executive-level insights and strategic recommendations
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with Product Management and RevOps to align product launches and messaging with digital execution
- Collaborate with IT and external vendors to ensure secure, scalable, and modern digital infrastructure
- Build and develop a high-performing digital marketing team
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field required
- Advanced degree preferred
- 10 plus years of progressive experience in digital marketing within a global B2B environment
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and complex global initiatives
- Proven track record driving measurable revenue growth through digital channels
- Deep expertise in AI search optimization, enterprise SEO, and marketing automation platforms
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or corporate enterprise environments preferred
Knowledge and Skills
- Enterprise level digital marketing strategy and execution
- AI search strategy including generative engine optimization and structured content design
- Global SEO and paid search expertise
- Advanced marketing automation and email marketing experience using platforms such as Marketo, Pardot, or equivalent
- CRM integration and lead lifecycle management
- Global content governance across multilingual websites
- Ecommerce platform leadership
- Strong analytical capability with experience using enterprise analytics tools
- Executive level communication and presentation skills
- Experience managing global stakeholders across regions
- Financial acumen and budget management experience
- Strong collaboration skills with Sales, IT, and Product teams

Compensation Range:
The pay range for this position is $147,300.00 - $250,900.00. Typically, a competitive wage for new hires will fall between $150,000.00 to $175,000.00. Offers for this position may vary based on market data and other factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The position may also be eligible for a short-term incentive.
