General Motors

Digital Design Coordinator

Warren, Michigan, United States of America Full time

Job Description

Position Summary:

The Digital Design Coordination (DDC) team is a critical enabler of design data operations, ensuring structured, disciplined digital environments that support sculpting, engineering, and milling communities. This role goes beyond technical support, it combines deep PLM (Simens Teamcenter) expertise with process innovation, relationship-building, and a strong understanding of vehicle architecture to drive efficiency and scalability.

The successful candidate will lead initiatives to automate manual workflows, support the transition to Siemens Teamcenter Active Workspace, and act as a pivotal partner in aligning DDC’s work with Design Technology strategy. This position requires technical fluency, attention to detail, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams while maintaining a relentless focus on data integrity and process excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Management & Integration

  • Build and maintain structured Teamcenter assemblies for 3D CAD data (NX, Alias) across internal databases.

  • Apply knowledge of vehicle builds—including trim levels, variants, carry-over vs. new parts, and shared commodities—to ensure accurate data organization.

  • Run audits to eliminate stacked parts, resolve gaps, and maintain integrity of the Persistent Digital Model (PDM) for rapid visualization throughout GVDP phases.

Process Development & Automation

  • Lead efforts to reduce manual processes (e.g., Excel-based builders) through automation and scalable solutions.

  • Collaborate with IT and Design Technology to prepare for Active Workspace adoption and evolving PLM functionality.

  • Define and implement best practices for data structure and milestone readiness.

Issue Resolution & Governance

  • Monitor and resolve Teamcenter-related issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing long-term fixes.

  • Partner with IT to manage defect resolution and production stability.

  • Document and communicate changes, ensuring transparency and readiness across impacted teams.

Program & Patent Support

  • Maintain awareness of GVDP timing and ensure proactive data readiness for each program (conceptual, developmental and execution) phase.

  • Provide support for P2P and design patent processes, including coordination and documentation.

Training & Communication

  • Develop and support training materials for Teamcenter and in collaboration with Global Design Training.

  • Act as a mentor and resource for cross-functional teams, promoting consistency in DCM/PDM methods and tool usage.

  • Streamline communication of software and process changes through structured release notes, impact briefs, and micro-training.

Continuous Improvement & Leadership

  • Capture business requirements and develop use cases for process improvement projects.

  • Lead validation testing for Teamcenter upgrades, including test case creation, execution, and issue tracking.

  • Influence strategic direction by fostering innovation and accountability across teams.

  • Build strong relationships with engineering, program management, and sculpting partners to expedite information flow and enable decision-making.
