First Student is hiring immediately for a Diesel Mechanic for our shop serving the Whitman, Abington, Duxbury Academy, Norwell, Weymouth, Holbrook, and Rockland school districts!

As a Diesel Mechanic at First Student, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and reliability of the classic yellow school buses that thousands of students rely on every day.

About the Diesel Mechanic Role

At First Student, our Diesel Mechanics perform high-level maintenance and diagnostics to keep our Thomas/Freightlinerfleet safe, compliant, and road-ready. Responsibilities include:

  • Performing advanced maintenance on brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions

  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical issues

  • Completing work orders and required documentation

  • Supporting mobile emergency service calls as needed

  • Ensuring all repairs meet DOT and company safety standards

Important: This position is safety-sensitive and subject to DOT drug testing.
DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.

You Might Be a Great Fit If You:
