Must pick up at least 2 shifts within a 6 week scheduling period.

Pay Range

$21.85 - $32.80

Major Responsibilities:

  • Sets up, operates, cleans and disinfects dialysis and related equipment in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Prepares, administers, and records medications in accordance with policy.
  • Initiates and terminates dialysis treatments with AVF (Arteriovenous Fistula), AVG (Arteriovenous Graft), and catheters.
  • Monitors equipment and patient status during dialysis treatments. Documents treatment information. Reports any significant changes in patient condition to the nurse.
  • Monitors water quality. Collects water and dialysate samples and follows procedures related to ensuring water quality per policy. Disinfects water system. Conducts air quality testing and maintains accurate records and documentation.
  • Operates the flow measurement device for vascular access monitoring.
  • Prepares bicarbonate mixture using aseptic techniques, if applicable.
  • Prepares lab specimens.
  • Communicates with management, staff, purchasing agents and vendors regarding supply delivery and notifies center supervisor of any unusual incidents. Reports problems to the appropriate personnel.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Requirements:

  • High School Graduate.
  • 1 year of experience in patient care
  • Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) certification issued by the Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC) needs to be obtained within 18 months.
  • A valid drivers license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
