About the opportunity

Diabetes education position on a casual basis within the Diabetes education team at Mercy Hospital for Women, a service that specialises in obstetric and neonatal care located in Heidelberg;

  • An opportunity exists for a diabetes educator, with flexibility in their working week to join our service on a casual basis to cover sick leave, planned annual and long service leave;

  • To provide clinical nursing leadership encompassing consultation and clinical practice, education, research and the care of women with diabetes and their families;

  • To provide support for women with diabetes and their families while planning for pregnancy, during pregnancy and in the post-natal period;

  • This role provides the opportunity to work with a dedicated team of diabetes educators, physicians and endocrinologists who excel and collaborate to optimise excellent, patient centred clinical outcomes.

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • Current AHPRA Registration, Registered Nurse, Division 1;

  • Graduate Certificate of Diabetes Education;

  • Credentialed Diabetes Educator (CDE) with Australian Diabetes Educators Association (ADEA) or working towards;

  • Minimum of 5 years post registration experience;

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise advanced clinical skills and knowledge in acute, hospital based complex care environments;

  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as autonomously;

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills including: problem solving, conflict resolution, communication and liaison skills;

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

  • A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.

  • Current COVID-19 certificate, proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
