Position Overview:
Ameresco currently has an opportunity for a DG Interconnection Manager based out of our office in Boston, MA. The ideal candidate will have very strong organizational and management skills, with the ability to coordinate related interconnection activities between project management, engineering and construction.
Responsibilities:
Work with Project Development Managers and Engineers to prepare and submit interconnection applications for various Distributed Generation projects. Mainly Solar PV and Storage.
Track and manage of signatures, approvals and payments for Interconnection Applications, impact studies, system modification fees and interconnection agreements.
Track applications through interconnection study process, working with utility and internal counterparts to set expectations on process and schedule, complete supplemental reviews and impact studies, and execute Interconnection Agreements.
Development and maintenance of a consistent record as each project navigates the interconnection process, from initial application to final authorization to operate.
Being the primary point of contact for all utility communications.
Coordinate with internal engineers and external consultants to address all technical comments and concerns from the utility to expedite Interconnection Agreements
Coordinate with Utilities during design and construction to ensure that the project timeline meets the needs of each project.
Coordinate with Utilities and Ameresco Construction Management to complete witness test and submit all close-out documentation to facilities Permission to Operate (PTO).
Review and understand technical standards and tariffs for interconnection at utilities throughout the Northeast, including but not limited to:
Standards for interconnection for a variety of projects – including large scale DER, BTM, and standalone resources.
Utility requirements for metering arrangements for energy components present in each system, including energy storage.
Research plans for utility transmission, substation, and distribution upgrades to inform interconnection strategy.
Travel required to project sites, mostly located in the region.
Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices and codes.
Foster effective and positive business relationships with all parties throughout project phases.
Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS degree.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience preferred in the energy or construction fields
Strong management and reporting skills.
Additional Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to interact and work with multi-functional teams including sales, customers, multi discipline engineers, and utilities.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written and verbal.
Demonstrated experience coordinating with utilities on solar and battery energy storage projects.
Experience working through commercial Solar PV and/or Energy Storage utility interconnection.
Experience working in EPC (engineer, procure, construct), or PPA (power purchase agreement) environment a plus.
The anticipated base salary range for this role is $128,700–$186,450 (presented in good faith). In addition to base pay, employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off, and may be eligible for performance incentives, bonuses, commissions, or equity, depending on the role.
Actual pay will depend on factors such as internal equity, skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. This range supports our commitment to pay transparency and compliance with applicable laws. Compensation may vary by work location, including remote arrangements.
