About the Role
Are you a forward-thinking and pragmatic Development Operations Manager who can lead and grow a team of DevOps engineers distributed across three product development locations? This role combines people management with strategic technical leadership. You will drive the vision and delivery of premium developer infrastructure tooling across on-premises and cloud environments, acting as an advocate for Developer Experience (DevEx). Bring your core DevOps and leadership expertise, and we will help you learn the nuances of our unique hardware/software product development ecosystem so you can help our engineering teams ship faster and win.

The CTCT division (a joint venture between Trimble and Caterpillar) develops positioning and control products for earthmoving and paving machines in the construction and mining industries. Using technologies such as GPS, optical total stations, lasers, IMUs, and sonics, our products are used in a range of applications where the operator of the machine benefits from having accurate horizontal and vertical guidance.
Lead, mentor, and develop a geographically distributed team of DevOps engineers, fostering collaboration and a high-performance culture across three sites
Define and execute the strategic roadmap for developer infrastructure tooling, balancing on-prem and public cloud investments
Partner with product development, platform engineering, and security teams to align infrastructure priorities with business objectives
Own project planning, resource allocation, and delivery timelines for infrastructure initiatives
Establish and refine engineering standards, operational runbooks, and incident response practices
Champion CI/CD pipeline reliability, build system performance, and developer experience improvements
Manage hybrid infrastructure strategy, including capacity planning, cost optimization, and cloud migration decisions
Drive adoption of infrastructure-as-code, observability, and automation practices across the organization
Report on team health, delivery metrics, and infrastructure KPIs to senior leadership
5+ years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure, or platform engineering, with at least 2 years in a people management role
Demonstrated success managing distributed or remote engineering teams across multiple time zones
Strong technical background in CI/CD systems, container orchestration, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi, or similar), and configuration management
Hands-on experience with at least one major public cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP) alongside on-premises infrastructure
Proven ability to set technical strategy, build roadmaps, and deliver complex infrastructure projects on schedule
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with comfort presenting to both technical and executive audiences
Experience with developer tooling and productivity platforms is strongly preferred
Experience operating enterprise-grade internal developer platforms
Familiarity with site reliability engineering principles and production operations at scale
Background in budget management and vendor negotiations for infrastructure services
Track record of building inclusive, high-trust engineering teams across cultures and geographies
