Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration Business Unit (BU) has an exciting career opportunity for an Associate DevOps Engineer – Level 1 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. Our domain provides rewarding work that contributes to the latest advancements being made in the industry. The position is located on-site in Boulder, CO. Boulder is nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and only 25 miles from downtown Denver.
Position Overview:
The Associate DevOps Engineer plans and evolves processes and infrastructure to execute programs which support rapid maturation and deployment of capability while sustaining a stable security posture and configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of both internally developed and externally purchased commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software products. Integrates development pipelines leveraging automation with test-driven development tools. Designs, develops, automates, and maintains productivity tools using programming, databases or scripting languages to improve software modeling and development.
Designs and implements build procedures that are used to support software product development and use. Functions with agile principles to execute efficiently in an environment of continuous feedback. Ensures implementation of Software Configuration Management (SCM), code quality, and code coverage with automated testing for Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines. May develop software configuration standards for company-wide use. May train software developers in the use of configuration management tools and the implementation of software quality standards.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in planning and evolving processes and infrastructure to execute programs supporting rapid capability maturation and deployment.
- Support DevOps Lead in integrating development pipelines leveraging automation with test-driven development tools and continuous integration/test frameworks.
- Support the configuration management processes to manage and implement software builds.
- Support implementation of Software Configuration Management (SCM), code quality, and code coverage with manual testing and automation on executable code.
- Define and implement the build, deployment, provisioning, and monitoring standards for the program.
- Work as part of an Agile development team to deliver end-end automation of deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure management framework.
- Create scripts and/or templates to automate infrastructure provisioning and management tasks.
- Work closely with development teams to create an automated continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) system.
- Work together with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
- Monitor and support all installed systems and infrastructure.
- Contribute to the design of information and operational support systems.
- Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 0-2 years of related work experience, or 4 years of related work experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
- Intermediate Linux OS experience
- Intermediate Python, Perl or shell scripting
- Ability to work multiple tasks concurrently
- Comfortable working with software tools
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs
- Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government issued Secret security clearance at the time of application and is required to start.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Source control tool experience
- C++ experience
- Software development and troubleshooting in a team environment
- Legacy software and modernization effort experience
- Agile development experience
- Full software development lifecycle experience
- Experience with: Atlassian Tool Suite, Nexus and JSL, Jenkins, Git, Conan, or Cmake.
Primary Level Salary Range: $76,200.00 - $114,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
