DevOps Engineer, Field Delivery

AMER - Canada - British Columbia - Remote Full time

Job Requisition ID #

26WD97556

Position Overview

At Autodesk, we empower those who imagine, design, and create a better world for everyone. Our Field Delivery team builds software used by construction workers on active job sites where connectivity is limited, conditions are unpredictable, and reliability is required.

We're looking for a DevOps Engineer to own the infrastructure that powers our field operations platform. You'll manage and evolve the systems our web and mobile applications run on, currently built on AWS with Terraform and a PostgreSQL database, and make sure they stay reliable, secure, and easy to operate as the product grows.

This role sits at the intersection of our engineering team and the broader Autodesk organization. You'll work closely with other Autodesk teams to ensure we're following best practices around security, privacy, and compliance, while keeping our infrastructure fast and our deployments smooth. This is a role for someone who cares deeply about the systems behind the product and takes pride in infrastructure that just works.

Responsibilities

  • Own and operate the infrastructure for our field delivery platform, ensuring high availability, performance, and cost efficiency

  • Manage and improve our infrastructure-as-code setup. We currently use Terraform and SAM, but you'll have the flexibility to evolve the tooling as needed

  • Administer and optimize our AWS PostgreSQL database, including backups, monitoring, scaling, and disaster recovery

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that enable fast, safe, and repeatable deployments across web and mobile

  • Implement and enforce security best practices across all infrastructure, including networking, access controls, secrets management, and vulnerability scanning

  • Collaborate with other Autodesk teams to meet organizational standards for security, privacy, data governance, and regulatory compliance

  • Set up and maintain monitoring, alerting, and observability tooling so issues are caught early and resolved quickly

  • Define and maintain incident response processes, runbooks, and on-call procedures

  • Manage cloud costs and resource usage by identifying waste, right-sizing services, and planning capacity

  • Work with software engineers to design infrastructure for new systems being built

  • Work closely with application engineers to ensure infrastructure supports their needs and development workflows

  • Document infrastructure architecture, operational procedures, and compliance controls

  • Evaluate and introduce new tools or services that improve reliability, developer experience, or operational efficiency

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure, or site reliability engineering

  • Experience with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools at scale

  • Hands-on experience with AWS services including compute, networking, storage, IAM, and managed databases

  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for production systems

  • Strong understanding of security fundamentals including network segmentation, least-privilege access, and encryption at rest and in transit

  • Experience working within compliance frameworks and partnering with security or governance teams

  • Familiarity with observability platforms (e.g. Datadog, CloudWatch, Grafana)

  • Comfortable with scripting and automation (e.g. Python, Bash, or similar)

  • You take ownership of the systems you run and care about keeping them healthy, documented, and improving over time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with PostgreSQL administration, including performance tuning, backups, replication, and monitoring

  • Experience with container orchestration (e.g. ECS, EKS, Kubernetes)

  • Experience with secrets management tools (e.g. AWS Secrets Manager, HashiCorp Vault)

  • Experience supporting mobile application infrastructure such as build pipelines, OTA updates, or app distribution

  • Experience using AI agents to streamline infrastructure management and operational tasks

  • Background in SOC 2, FedRAMP, or other compliance frameworks relevant to enterprise software
