- Knights of Columbus provides advanced care for children with a broad range of neuro-developmental disabilities and communication disorders. We work with a variety of pediatric patients, including those with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), language and social delays, intellectual disabilities, genetic disorders, associated developmental and behavioral concerns.
- Familiarity with autism and developmental disabilities, community services, and special education services is preferred.
Job Summary:
Serves as a liaison and resource for the families of children who are at-risk for autism or developmental disabilities or delays.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides information, support and training, and serves as a community link to family centered efforts and activities.
- Identifies and maintains community referral source contacts including community service programs, behavioral health care, specialized children services, and education/training opportunities.
- Establishes partnerships with social service agencies and participates in public awareness and child find activities, including community events, early childhood activities, and other early childhood programs.
- Communicates effectively with families and staff to ensure all needs are met. Organizes and supports family meetings and maintains related documentation.
- Prepares and distributes informational program materials to physician’s offices, childcare providers, and community bulletin boards. Participates in opportunities to support the program.
- Serves as key responder to situations involving children with escalated behaviors.
- Provides parent training for Peers Therapy Group program.
- Coordinates and provides education for other professionals and community agencies.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in Mental Health or related field
EXPERIENCE
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent reaching, sitting, standing and walking.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more).
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
- Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
- Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, twisting and gripping.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Occasional use of vision to identify and distinguish colors.
- Occasional driving.
- Rare repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements and squatting.
