About the Opportunity 

Reporting to the Senior Director, Individual Giving, the Development Officer is an integral member of the Development team at the Clinton Foundation. The Development Officer works closely with the Development team to create and execute an annual giving plan to engage and solicit an assigned portfolio of donors and prospects. The Development Officer at the Clinton Foundation is a proactive, confident self-starter that thrives in a fast-paced environment that values results. The Development team works to secure the philanthropic resources necessary to advance the Foundation’s mission through its programs and operations. The team works closely with volunteers and colleagues from across the organization to present the Foundation’s case for support through gifts, grants, and sponsorships. Team members collaborate to maximize engagement and giving from individual donors and institutional funders alike. 

Core Responsibilities  

Front-line Fundraising

  • Under the direction of the Senior Director, the Development Officer manages and grows an assigned portfolio of individual donors and prospective donors with targeted annual and multi-year giving of $1,000+ to meet established goals
  • Engages in the direct cultivation and solicitation of donors and prospects, including through in-person meetings, telephone, written solicitations/proposals, email, and other means tailored as specifically as possible to donor preferences

Stewardship 

  • Develops and manages stewardship and communications activities for the Development team by leading the planning and development of regular outreach to inform, update, engage, and thank current donors
  • Leads the coordination of consistent, targeted outreach to donors for the purpose of stewarding current and lapsed donors toward increased engagement and giving. Collaborates with Development and Marketing and Communications colleagues to produce and implement curated updates, engagement strategies, and tailored events/experiences for individual donors
  • They will liaise with the Marketing and Communications team in the creation of collateral materials in support of stewardship and fundraising efforts

Project Management 

  • Tracks gifts and pledge commitments within the assigned portfolio and reconciles gift activity with quarterly donor disclosure and other reporting. Monitors pledge reminders, receipting, and acknowledgement processes for timeliness and accuracy
  • Assists the Senior Director and Development team with any special projects, especially those related to individual giving, including but not limited to fundraising events, and/or administrative tasks. Serves as point of contact for development inquiries and Development prospects

Minimum Qualifications  

What we’re looking for: 

  • Bachelors Degree required
  • At least 7 years of professional experience in the field in positions of increasing responsibility. At least 2-3 of those years must have included either managing people or managing projects to completion required
  • Additional experience in cultivating and soliciting gifts from individuals in a similar role at an organization of comparable size and complexity preferred

Specialized Knowledge and Skills Needed for Performance of Job: 

  • Understanding the fundamentals of a Development office within a charitable foundation
  • Demonstrated success in individual giving and portfolio management experience beneficial
  • Above-average computer skills – proficiency in Microsoft Office, knowledge of Blackbaud CRM and/or similar CRM/donor database
  • Knowledge of relevant analytical tools and wealth screening beneficial
  • Superb verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Possesses a passion for the work of the Foundation and its mission and engages prospects with same passion
  • Ability to think strategically and contextually, and to anticipate the needs and expectations of executive leaders
  • Ability to analyze and present data effectively, make decisions, allocate resources, and align efforts with opportunities

Compensation & Benefits 

Our best estimate of the compensation range for this opportunity is $92K - 102K annually, depending on the experience you bring. This role is not eligible for overtime pay.
