DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
EASTERN OREGON
SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the SAHS foundation leadership, the position is responsible for the work, function and success of foundation and philanthropy work in eastern Oregon. The position oversees the continued growth and enhancement of philanthropic support of the Idaho hospitals. It actively nurtures
current donor relationships and strategically forms relationships with prospective and new donors. The position oversees all fundraising programs pertaining to eastern Oregon, including campaigns, appeals, donor recognition, and special events. The position also participates in hospital leadership as well
as supporting regional philanthropy initiatives for all of SAHS.
REQUIREMENTS:
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Foundation Leadership:
a. Directs and supervises the business and affairs of eastern Oregon foundations.
b. Develops short-term objectives and long-range goals. Prepares for board/leadership approval,
implementation and operation of these objectives.
c. Serves as ex-officio member of all standing committees of the Foundation and acts as consultant
to the membership of these committees and programmatic structures.
d. Plans and recommends the Foundation annual budget with accurate projections of expenses and
revenues.
e. Develops procedures to ensure proper donor recognition, acknowledgements, and record keeping.
f. Works with the Marketing team to develop programs of information, outreach, and publicity,
which creates a following for Saint Alphonsus and its mission. Supervises production of all
printed and digital materials and publications for the SARMC and Nampa Foundations.
g. Manages restricted funds to honor donor intent and organizational needs.
h. Community-facing: Often serves as representative in civic, governmental and professional
community events, maintaining strong relationships with donors, stakeholders, industry leaders,
peers, the media, and others.
Fundraising:
a) Plans and implements internal and external fundraising campaigns.
b) Identifies organizational needs most appropriate for fundraising and philanthropic support.
c) Identifies and recruits new sponsors/funding sources for events and activities.
d) Maintains portfolio of current major donors and develops relationships with new and prospect
donors.
e) Brings in $100,000 worth of donations annually
Internal Leadership:
Actively participates in eastern Oregon leadership activities, including operational initiatives, including being onsite lead for Healthcare Week, Nurses Week, brand activities. Including serving as a liaison to the Marketing & Communications Department.
Forms and nurtures internal relationships, especially with aligned and partner departments
(Mission, Community Health & Well-being, Finance, Marketing & Communications, Service Line Leaders, Food & Nutrition Services/Catering, Facilities – as well as all clinical and nonclinical units)
Manages funding requests from Saint Alphonsus and subsequent stewardship processes to
disburse resources for innovation, budget relief, major capital projects, and colleague resiliency, education and engagement
Coordinates program kick-offs and celebrations and tours for donors and supporters
Leads Foundation Board:
Recruits, trains and engages a Foundation committee of community leaders and influencers
Plans and prepares meeting structure and information for meetings in coordination with committee chair, implementing actionable goals

flex with evolving needs of Saint Alphonsus, Trinity Health, and needs of our community.
Stays current on health care industry trends, and conducts research as needed
Proven leadership skills working with a cross-functional team in a matrix organization.
Must have excellent organization and multi-tasking skills and be self-directed.
Advanced computer skills, with an emphasis on MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook.
5. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work with newsletters and graphics programs.
