TITLE: Development Manager

EMPLOYER: AES Clean Energy Services, LLC

                                                    

LOCATION: Louisville, CO (Some teleworking may be permitted)

DUTIES: Manage all aspects of project development from early-stage prospecting to Notice to Proceed. Own and define the project development timelines and budgets. Navigate and secure local, state, and/or federal land use permits / processes commonly associated with wind development. Manage internal and external stakeholders, including environmental, legal, and technical subject matter experts, manage contractors, vendors, and consultants to maintain project timeline and budget. Identify and mitigate key risks to maximize project viability while understanding key financial drivers of the project to ensure profitability. Procure interconnection and transmission rights for power generation projects. Support greenfield wind development prospecting efforts. Negotiate real estate including site control and real estate agreements, accommodation agreements, non-disclosure agreements, master services agreements, development services agreements, SNDAs and others. Support Mergers and Acquisitions due diligence of wind projects and support financing transaction due diligence. Successfully negotiate new tax abatement agreements and host-community agreements with local municipalities, when applicable. Assist with permitting and environmental compliance throughout the construction and operation of projects. Act as a representative for AES Clean Energy in meetings with the community, elected officials, and regulators.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any field), Sustainable Energy/Engineering or a related field and

three (3) years of experience in any occupation involving Wind and Renewable Development Experience or a related

field. 

The position requires three (3) years of experience in:

  • Renewable energy technologies, and particularly wind, project development, utilities, interconnection procedures, permitting, commercial contracting and market basis
  • Understand and manage renewable and wind projects development budgets, activities, life cycle spend schedules, securities and key milestones
  • Key renewable project financial drivers and financial models, including familiarity with project economics (Capex, Opex, Financial indicators, IRR, DCF, Project Life vs Contract Life returns
  • Market Basis) key interdependence and risk/reward decision making reflected in the ability to communicate and recommend project related business decisions
  • Ability to review Real Estate documentation, review surveys, title reports, title issues and other relevant documentation, good knowledge of real estate property agreements including leases, easements, purchase options, accommodation agreements
  • Ability to manage day-to-day activities of multiple projects (a portfolio) under development including, Land Control, Environmental, Engineering and Design, Commercial, Procurement and others while understanding key Development, Construction and other Project Milestones interdependencies, durations, risks and possible mitigations
  • Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, ArcPro, Google Earth Pro, edit review and conduct GIS analysis understanding key wind project constraints, buildable area definition, and resulting project decisions
  • Mergers and Acquisitions transactions in the Renewable and Wind Energy Development industry, understand key transaction risks/upsides from the development perspective, including potential red flag analysis, economics, and overall fit to the company’s portfolio

SALARY: $­­­­­­­­­­­­­­148,500 to $168,300 per year. Standard Corporate benefits provided.
