We are actively seeking an experienced Development Engineer to join our Cold Lake Thermal team in Calgary.  Reporting to the Manager, Development – Cold Lake Thermal, the Development Engineer will be responsible for framing and executing capital projects within the Business Unit along with forecasting and prioritizing spending to optimize asset value.

The successful candidate will:

  • Prioritize and optimally deploy capital to maximize asset value while ensuring economic expectations are met

  • Lead planning and execution of development capital program, including annual budgeting process and monthly spend forecasts

  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to evaluate, prioritize, structure and execute new pad developments, re-development well opportunities, appraisal programs and surface facility debottlenecks

  • Lead drill readiness, working with key stakeholders for the scheduling, design and execution of new wells and pads

  • Support base pad operations through workover/re-drill evaluations, forecast analysis and collaborative pad reviews


Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry

  • Minimum of 5 years of development or exploitation experience working SAGD assets would be an asset


Skills and Knowledge:

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

  • Versatile approach of working independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team

  • Excellent prioritization and time management ability to deliver results while working under deadlines

  • Strong business acumen and understanding of oil & gas development along with project/field economics and cash flow modeling

  • Proficient in the use of ValNav or equivalent, Accumap/Geoscout, Microsoft Office

Other Details:

  • Occasional travel to the field may be required.
